Formula Indie Sessions – Interview with OZONOTRE

Introduction of the project
What is your earliest memory connected to music?
Music has been with me since I was very young and I remember that already at 14 years old I started working in a small private radio station hosting a chart program; I also worked in discos as a DJ
How did your passion for creating music begin?
I started making music with a small electronic keyboard; I had some ideas in my head and I worked on them, turning them into songs.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
Being a dated person, in my music I propose typical sounds of the 70s, 80s and 90s, which in my opinion are periods that have characterized great music worldwide; my productions range from covers of great hits of the past to new and original songs written by me, but always produced in an old-fashioned style.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
It’s a soft and elegant sound, which unfortunately isn’t very popular today; a more impactful and assertive sound is preferred. If my sound were a person, I’d say it’s someone who enters someone’s house asking permission, not breaking down the door. It’s not a very modern sound, that’s all.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
The one thing I’ve learned is that you should never think you’ve arrived and are ‘great’; you should always improve.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
It’s a good mix between real instruments (guitar and piano especially) and electronic instruments (synths, special effects, etc.)
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
There isn’t one in particular; I listen to everything that moves me.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
If you’re a sixty-year-old man, either you stop and let the younger ones do their thing, or you put your 40 years of experience to good use and try to convey something good to your listeners; I’m doing the latter.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
In my songs I almost always talk about feelings and love; I want people to perceive and appreciate this.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
I recently took a harmonization course and a mixing and mastering course
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
I don’t like performing live, I prefer working in the studio; I’m better at making people understand what I mean with my music.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
I love Giorgio Moroder and that says it all.
Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links)
My music is available everywhere because it is distributed through a record label: iMUSICIAN Ag. so it can be found everywhere on the web and on all listening platforms
Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
If you mean virtual travel; we’re preparing a new single for next year; probably another cover
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?
I hope that listeners will increasingly discover the right way to listen to us, which is more niche than mainstream.
