Formula Indie Sessions – Interview with SOFYKA

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
I remember the first song that really blew me away, and that was also my first introduction to electronic music, was “You & Me” by Flume. I absolutely died on the inside, it felt like a whole new world had opened up to me, and I was so hungry to discover more music like that.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
I was part of a kids’ worship band when I was younger, and I’d say that’s where I discovered my passion for singing. But I also used to play around on the piano, coming up with melodies and experimenting with different ideas. At some point, I realized that this could actually be a way to write songs, too, so I started leaning more into that and exploring songwriting.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
I want this project to be a space where I can really be creative and produce my own stuff. I want to bring my whole heart into the music not just through singing, but also through production, and the creative process behind it. It feels important to me to have a bigger part in creating the music and to really make it my own.
