Introduction Of The Indie Artist Mula Axe
What is your earliest memory connected to music?
My earliest memory connected to music, I recall would be going to the studio with my best friend and sister babyfather; they had a team that was already signed to my birth city(Charlotte) independent label (Carolina Heat). I was not recording music at the time. My friends and they team just loved to keep me in the room, because of my lively energy. They would always invite me to step up to the mike; because of how I use to freestyle, or when the studio was in recess. I constantly use to shrug the opportunity off, I was young(15) interested in doing other things. It’s crazy, I use to get into with them for interrupting the recording sessions by shouting out punch lines just to hear them stop the session; Usually either one was ready for each argument. Seen it as an opportunity always; just for me to bring up what we missed that I wanted to do that they always use to look over. Later, they would bring up the punchline or later maybe days after I would hear me in the mix and mastered track in the background. I would just talk, or argue playfully about it always though.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
My passion for music begin when I was incarcerated as a juvenile in a juvenile prison; where we all use to just freestyle like are favorite rapper style i guess I would say. Later we would end up encouraging each other to rap. While we came up with different rap groups. It was crazy, the passion actually came from just looking around; observing the energy that was developing throughout any room we occupied, giving us the notice that are energy was contagious. It’s was dope; the thought of realizing that everyday became a memory that I could personally relive through reflection till this day. That experience helped me cope and learn with a life choice that led to a consequence; placing me in a situation and environment with common, at risk adolescents that were placed in the same environment and situation. It was definitely seen uncommon for us to be peers because of our different urban lifestyles and growing egos.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
To be frank with you, I actually been stuck bettering myself; projecting and crafting a business profile. Really, I haven’t had the chance to really work on drafting up a new music blueprint of my next artist music project/catalog. When free, I do rehearse and freestyle my word play through already written/unwritten songs from my memory bank; strengthen my artist delivery.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
If given the chance/opportunity to elaborate on my sound to the public who never heard any of my music for instance, I would say I’m a different style of artist. I deeply try to display my creativity through my catchy word play. Giving my artist flow a foreign persona displaying the genuine style within my character.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
One thing I must say that I learned throughout my music career, that I self built; would be the understanding of the culture of the genre of music I created from my talent. It takes hardwork and dedication. Networking equals your Networth became my slogan that I thought of; self motivating myself only to entice my hidden hunger in my drive, appreciating the fueling ambition for the passion of solidifying my independent position in a talentive music industry.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
Some of the current tools would be I write my music with a pencil/pen, instruments I have used would be a piano, Studio One is the software that I recorded on that’s been very essential in my creative process.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
The Indie Artist I’m definitely vibing with would be my once label mate Jumpman Savy. He has a song available for streaming on the platform audiomack called
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
I would say going through all the hardships in my life really made me stay dedicated to why I chose to believe in my talent. Your life experience could make or break who you are. I chose to reflect, revise and implement every hardship memory to understand the life I could still create, lond as I daily envision; by properly planning and preparing through it all. Practice does create perfection, while my desire still crave professionalism.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
Really no emotions, only just a message that I would like new/current listeners to take from my work would be that it’s all fun in music once you realize the energy that could be created. My biggest advice when choosing to become an artist is to really know what you want to bring in and get out of this game. Learning that this is a business; Believe in Self to realize that it’s all on how far you want to go. Knowledge is infinite, not offered.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Well by me being almost 10years off and on being a verified independent artist, I would say the most important lesson so far music has taught me is that your last accomplishment can become greater if only you apply your gift and same drive. With learning, gaining and reflecting the knowledge throughout this culture of this talentive music world. You get out what you put in. Dedication, ambition, planning and executing are just a few hidden keys to creating success that’s rewarding through your accomplishments adding to your artist resume.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
The dream venue I would love to perform at is the B.E.T Awards, to add to the talentive world of this beautiful Hip-hop culture that I am apart of.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
If given the chance/opportunity to collaborate with any artist past or present, would be a few Hop-hop artist; like Tupac, Future, YFN Lucci, GloRilla, Ice Spice, Sexy Red and a few more. Reason’s are they all have music and intriguing personalities that make me reminisce personally on past peers, relationships, or just memories that resonates. Like make me really feel the energy that I could share with them that would build a genuine friendship/relationship that could create a loyal bond.
