What is your earliest memory connected to music?

Blasting Queen Greatest Hits cassette tape on family road trips as a kid. -JT

Blasting Phil Collins Tarzan soundtrack in my moms VW Beetle -CS

How did your passion for creating music begin?

Most of us began learning to play music at a young age. Through covering many of our favourite artists in cover bands we got inspired to eventually create a sound of our own!

What’s the story behind your current music project?

Pathways came about after the whirlwind of touring that happened around our last album Eternal Embers. It was written during the last few years of our 20s as we were all going through profound changes in our lives.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

Somewhere in the intersection between psych-rock, dream pop, and 2010s indie. Ethereal guitars, synths, and vocals grounded by powerful drums.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

Being introduced to the world of synthesizers in the early days of the band completely changed us from a more straightforward guitar riff kind of band into what we are today.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

Not the most exciting answer, but the ability to share ableton files while working on demos is a huge part of our process. In the early stages of writing we each individually come up with a lot of ideas that may not be much more than a riff or verse, share them with each other, then develop each other’s demos that we feel inspired by. Ableton feels like the most essential tool. When making music it is really a combo orlf producing and writing at the same time. Ableton allows ideas to flow really quickly, easily, and creatively.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

We all have gotten super into the artist Yndling recently, amazing psych-rock/dream pop from Norway. We just saw them when we were at The Great Escape Festival in May and loved it!

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

Much of what we write our songs about comes from our personal life experiences both good and bad. Music has become one of our biggest outlets to process these experiences which gives  emotion and meaning to the songs.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

We certainly indulge in the range of human emotion across the album, but ultimately we want people to come away with the feeling of hope.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

To appreciate the opportunity to be able to express ourselves through art. It also allows both the listener and creator of said music to experience feelings and emotions that cannot be described or directly put into words. This magic in music can teach us all so much about what being human is all about.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

Glastonbury for a festival,  Gorge Amphitheatre and Red Rocks for venues.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

Tame Impala/Kevin Parker has been such a monumental influence on us that it’s hard not to choose him.

Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links)

Literally anywhere on the internet that you can listen to music or follow somebody on social media!

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

To continue to make music that we love is always the dream! It’s hard to say musically where we’ll go but we’re always interested in pursuing new sounds and styles.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

We always hope the time, care, and love put into every second of music shines through.
