Formula Indie Sessions – Interview with Oneiros Way

The name takes inspiration from Greek mythology; Oneiros refers to the god of dreams. So my project Oneiros Way means the journey to dreams or to the subconscious mind. It’s more of an introspective path.
What is your earliest memory connected to music?
When I was about 8 years old I felt drawn to improvise melodies and verses and sing them to my pets. It was so satisfying for me to watch them sleep with soothing lullabies. I felt I could touch their pure hearts.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
It all started with my admiration for Jack White’s raw minimalism, mysterious bluesy style, and his magnetic guitar riffs, all of that made a big impression on me. I was completely obsessed with all of his other projects too. At the same time, Amy Lee (Evanescence) and Pj Harvey were like muses for their melancholic songwriting and haunting voices, something I could identify with. I would say that a mix of their approaches to music ignited in me the fire to start singing and writing my own songs with just a piano.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
My new single “Before the World Stops Turning” is a dreamlike prayer about love and separation. Decadent synths and suspended atmospheres tell the story of two people trying to stay united while their inner and outer worlds crumble. It’s also a prayer for the current suffering around wars and people getting detached from reality. The spoken-word section is inspired by Bulat Okudzhava’s “Molitva”, which introduces a liturgical dimension that mixes fatalism and resilience.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
Like a journey between dreams and reality, distorted atmospheres, decaying synths and a very intimate nostalgic songwriting that delves into fragility, memory and emotional space. I don’t think I want to be labeled inside one music genre only as I’d like to keep experimenting with other sounds and rhythms.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
Through meditation, creativity flows in the right direction. For me it’s important to know how to read the subconscious mind to learn more about who I am and to give a valid space to my emotions.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
On a daily basis, I use voice memos to record interesting melodies, then I reproduce them in Garageband where I build the structure with synths and vocal layers to then start writing around the feeling at that moment.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
Deane and Jake Schrock, I love the retro videogame vibes in their music.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
I grab inspiration from my dreams to create oneiric and surreal scenarios in my music where I can express my feelings.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
Live for resilience, create to heal and share the absurdity in your dreams.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
I’m navigating a vast ocean of talented people, where I believe there’s space for each one of us. Like the universe with infinite stars.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
I’d love to play at Coachella one day, it would be a dream come true.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
I’d love to collaborate with Guy Sigsworth! It would be really interesting because, as a producer, he makes a peculiar neoclassical baroque pop that I really like, also working with synth programming and creating haunting hooks with him would be my final challenge.
Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links)
For those who want to support my project, the CD digipack of my previous work “Orbs” is now available on Bandcamp! Orbs is a 5 track EP that takes a bolder, more industrial ethereal turn. Expect an immersive cinematic blend of haunting synths and reverberated guitars to go through a sonic ritualistic journey with a cold vision of cycles.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
The next chapter is all about diving deeper into synth programming and pushing the boundaries of my sound.
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?
That my music is about creating atmospheres and surreal scenarios you can feel, imagine and lose yourself in.
If you want here you can add a representative Youtube video to insert below the interview 🙂
“Immersion” is my debut single with Claudio (now on a solo project as Tony Taglialucci). I’m very proud of how it helped paving the way to developing my sound further.
