What is your earliest memory connected to music?

Cory: In middle-school music class I was so bad and disruptive that I was hardly allowed to touch any instruments and I nearly failed the class!

How did your passion for creating music begin?

Erin: Creating music wasn’t something I was overly interested in until we started this ‘Two Crows’ thing. Until then, I was just happy singing in the car when no one was listening.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

It started as just the two of us going to open mics to play a couple songs we knew. After those open mics we started getting asked out for gigs and that snowballed into where we are today.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

Our sound has traditional folk elements with storytelling really being at the forefront, but it’s blended with modern indie-folk. Think; Noah Kahan, Shovels & Rope, The Lumineers.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

Don’t worry what others are doing. Don’t try to be like someone, or to imitate someone. No one can do what you do, so just do what you do.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

Typically all we need is an acoustic guitar and our voices. Sometimes one of us will grab an electric guitar, or the banjo or something like that and it’ll inspire us to go a totally different direction.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

Not sure if this counts, but I (Erin) am obsessed with Ricky Mitch and the Coalminers right now!

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

Most of what we write about is personal experience. We have one or two songs that are somewhat-fabricated stories, but even those draw from experience for sure. We travel a lot, so we do our best to take in our surroundings as well as really listen to people. Just doing those two things has unintentionally been a massive influence to our music.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

We have sad songs, happy songs, melancholy songs, etc. Listeners might experience a whole range of emotions whether they’re streaming or seeing us live, but our goal at every show is just to make sure everyone feels welcome and included and walks away with a big smile on their face.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

Be adaptable and open to change. Whether that’s in something as big as daily life or as simple as when you’ve written a song and someone suggests adjusting a part of it. Learning to be adaptable and more receptive has made our lives so much better.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

Venue: Grand Ole Opry or Massey Hall. Festival: to headline something massive like Glastonbury, Coachella or Osheaga,

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

To sit in a room with someone like Bob Dylan or Joan Baez, even if they couldn’t care less that we were there, would be life changing.

Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links)

www.twocrowscomfort.com is the best place to see our upcoming shows (sign up for our mailing list!). Just type our name into Spotify (or any streaming service and we’ll be there). We’re also on Instagram – instagram.com/twocrowsforcomfort and Facebook –  facebook.com/twocrowsforcomfort

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

We look forward to keeping the momentum going – we’re writing the next album and hope to record that soon. We love touring and getting to see the world so we’ll be doing that for as long as we possibly can!

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

We hope they like the music we make, but they’ll also learn that we’re notoriously nice!
