Formula Indie Sessions : Interview with NOËP

_RAV9398

What is your earliest memory connected to music?

My dad playing and singing a song about a little frog who sat on a stone, thinking why is he all alone.

How did your passion for creating music begin?

I went to music school to study accordion and piano bit during that period

I wasnt super inspired by music. Nor did I create music. I remember when I was around 14 I randomly picked up my brother’s nylon-stringed acoustic guitar and even though I didnt know how to play it I wrote my first song that evening. That’s how I got started with songwriting

What’s the story behind your current music project?

My first 10 years as a songwriter I mainly wrote for my bands which were indie rock and garage/ surfrock groups. And electronic music never was a thing for me. But suddenly out of nowhere my demos started to feel more electronic. Pretty soon I realised I need a new artist project for the more electronic sound. Hence the birth of NOËP

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

Positively melancholic left electronic pop

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

Transitioning from live recorded band music to electronic music produced in a DAW.. Once I realised the level of detail I can get into when producing myself I really enjoyed the new playground I had found and it completely changed how I perceive music

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

My go-to DAW is Logic Pro, my go-to VST lately has been Serum. And I definitely need a microphone since my music is heavily based on my vocals.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

I’m really enjoying this artist called okgiorgio – seeing him live is def in my to-do list this year

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

Heavily for sure. My music is mostly inspired by my personal experiences – prevalent either in story or in sound. Couldn’t imagine it being any other way.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

Hopefulness and looking forward to living are definitely my focus words in my upcoming work.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

It’s not about the details, it’s about the story/emotion

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

I think Red Rocks in the US would be pretty cool:)

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

I would love to have a collab with Daft Punk

Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links)

Just search for ‘noep music’ and you’ll be sure to find me everywhere

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

I would love to go and tour Europe at some bigger venues to meet more people and to reach new audiences. Definitely working on that☺

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

I think they’d be pleased to find out that every now and then there’s some good quality entertainment found on my socials too (I hope)
