Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with domico

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
We didn’t really have CDs at home, so it was mostly just music from TV commercials.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
Ever since I was little, I used to hum theme songs that didn’t actually exist. Once I got a mobile phone and could start recording, I realized I could make my own songs.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
After graduating from university, I made some songs designed for looping as a duo. I wanted to try performing them live, so I started the project.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
I like to include phrases that people haven’t heard before, so I think they’ll find it interesting.
I love ’60s pop, grunge, and blues, but strange, unfamiliar guitar phrases tend to pop out.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
Songs that focus too much on technique or perfection don’t tend to last.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
Guitar and amplifier.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
mei semones
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
There was a time when I was focused on making music that put me in a nostalgic mood, like some kind of memory machine.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
I want them to interpret it freely and make it fit their own lives.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Music is similar to conversation.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, and anywhere else I can perform !
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
Not exactly a formal collaboration, but I’d love to jam with random musicians in ’50s and ’60s bars or on the street.
