Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Farang Zoo

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
My earliest memory is probably listening to my parents’ old cassette tapes filled with Finnish schlager music.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
My passion really began about a year ago when I started making music myself, but before that I wrote lyrics for other artists.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
I’ve wanted to prove that I’m capable of creating music even when people doubted me. At the same time, I want to open my world to listeners.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
My sound blends many genres, so you can’t really place me in just one. That gives me freedom. Every song has a story, always drawn from my own life — they’re all real stories.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music? One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that there’s no single mold or rule for how
music should be made. Realizing that opens up endless possibilities.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process? I mainly use a synthesizer, WavePad, Audacity, and LANDR for mastering
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
Right now I’m really enjoying the music of my friend Sialune
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision? My personal experiences shape my music a lot, especially my lyrics. I’ve lived a difficult
life, and that’s where the ideas come from — raw, but hopeful.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work? I hope my music can give people hope. Life isn’t always easy, but you can get through it.
I want to be genuine and approachable, and I hope that comes through in my songs.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
The most important lesson music has taught me is that music belongs to everyone. Modern music often feels too clean and made for algorithms, and that’s something I don’t want to create. I want my music to stay human, raw, and real.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
I would love to perform in prisons and children’s homes one day, because I want to bring hope to places where there isn’t much of it. This also comes from my own background.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why? The Offspring — I’ve been a fan since I was young, and it would be amazing just to
meet them someday.
Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links) You can follow me on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube — the handle on all platforms is
farang_zoo.
Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
My dream is to release a full album, and I’ve already started planning it for a little over a year from now.
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way? I hope listeners will understand that every lyric has a story connected to my life in some
way, and that I make music for people. Mistakes and imperfections are part of it — just like in real life. It’s authentic.
