Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Eamon Greene

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
I remember listening to my grandmother play the flute in the summer and feeling moved and inspired by how she played.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
Music is the best outlet of expression to me and being able to work through feelings, emotions and thoughts allows for greater clarity.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
I’ve recently finished working on an EP called “Empty House” which will be released on January 2nd. It includes 5 songs that I’ve been working on over the past year and I’m so excited to put it out.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
I would say my music draws on folk music, country sounds, and the emotional rawness of older classic rock.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music? Listening to lots of live stuff from my favorite artists has taught me to write music in a
way that will be best played live, as that is my favorite part of making music.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process? I’ve had the pleasure of working with great producers, Brian Sargent and Lune Aquiline,
who drive the recording process and make my vision come to life.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
Loving “Rip Torn” by MJ Lenderman.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision? I think that experiences completely influence music and art, I tend to write “happier” stuff
when I’m with friends and feeling community and then “sadder” and slower stuff when I feel more isolated.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work? I hope to make people feel the same emotions I felt when I wrote these songs, which
makes it so critical to capture that feeling when recording.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
It takes irrationality to make something unlikely happen. You have to be your biggest fan and harshest critic.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
Fenway Park.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why? Tyler Childers, his music has inspired me to create my own and I think his songwriting is
unparalleled.
