Formula Indie Sessions : Interview with Concordia

Answered by Dany Zept
What is your earliest memory connected to music?
One of my earliest memories is watching my dad play and sing every night with his guitar. That image stayed with me forever.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
It began during a very difficult moment in my life. I couldn’t find any song that represented what I was feeling. So I decided to write the songs myself. That’s how I started composing my first pieces.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
It started when I used to spend time with my best friend at the time. After two failed previous projects, we decided to create a new one together. We wrote much more honest songs, each from a different genre, but all telling a story—a tragedy, an event, something meaningful that deserved to be expressed.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
Surreal and unexpected. No two songs sound alike, but you can always tell it’s our style
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
Learning piano and scales changed everything. Before that, my limited knowledge made me feel like I was repeating the same patterns. Now I have more resources to create simple but catchy music, and I can compose much faster.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
Reaper, a few plugins, my guitar, my audio interface, and several mixing courses on YouTube. With that, I have almost everything I need.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
“IL NEOASSUNTO” by Edy, an Italian artist I recently discovered and loved.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
A lot. My entire project is based on everything I’ve lived and observed. I feel like a wanderer who watches people from afar, lives their experiences, and turns them into art—seeing everything through my own surreal, personal universe.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
That they are not alone. I hope some song can embrace their heart and soul. I want them to know that I’ve felt those emotions too, and I understand them.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
To be humble, empathetic, and brave. To face insecurity, ego, and indifference. Any artist who lets those three control them ends up lost.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
In Mexico: Corona Capital and Vive Latino. And of course, performing at the Palacio de Bellas Artes would be a dream.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
Foster the People, Enjambre, or Cuarteto de Nos. They all challenge reality and emotions through expressive art. It would be incredible to blend our visions.
Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links)

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
I want to express how the artistic world is turning into a “theater of shadows” and help people open their eyes to that universe. I dream of Concordia being recognized as a band that challenges the mind through art, and of being considered one of the best songwriters my country has produced—always with honesty and authenticity.
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?
That I am not far from them. I don’t want to be seen as someone unreachable, but as a voice that joins theirs to confront the fears and shadows that keep us from being free. They are with me, and I am with them. Without them, my music doesn’t sound. I want to leave something they can remember.
