Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with IVAN C

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
One of my strongest memories connected to music goes back to my childhood: I was in the car with my dad, listening to Queen, U2, Eminem, and Bob Marley. They were the first artists to show me how deeply music can move you. I still remember using a pen to rewind the cassettes and listen to my favorite songs over and over… it was my way of staying fully inside those emotions. I think it all started there.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
My passion for music production started as a bit of a game when I was around 16. At that time, a friend and I got into it with the idea of creating our very own rap/hip-hop EP
What’s the story behind your current music project?
My project was born from the desire to leave a mark, to make my presence felt. Music is also, for me, an escape from reality. When I’m in the studio producing, time ceases to exist, and my mind travels, imagining the impact the track will have on the people who listen to it.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
My sound blends deep, driving tech house grooves with heavy, bass-driven energy, creating a dark and immersive atmosphere. I focus on crafting hypnotic rhythms, sharp melodic leads, and subtle textures that pull listeners into a journey—tracks that are both underground in vibe and impactful on the dancefloor.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music? One thing I’ve learned that completely changed the way I make music is to stop chasing
perfection and start chasing emotion.
When I stopped overthinking every detail and focused on capturing a feeling, my tracks became more authentic, more creative, and a lot more fun to make
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process? Besides my favorite DAW, Ableton Live, I couldn’t do without Serum 2 and FabFilter Q4.
Serum allows me to create unique and complex sounds, while FabFilter Q4 is essential for shaping my mix with precision. These tools are crucial for expressing my creativity and bringing my musical ideas to life.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
One of my favorite artists right now is AYYBO, especially with his iconic track “Demon Time” How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
My journey has definitely been influenced by my work, as in addition to being a DJ and producer, I am also an intensive care nurse in cardiac surgery. This can sometimes be a limitation because it takes time away from my creativity, but on the other hand, it is also very rewarding for me
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work? My goal is to create music that connects with people on an emotional level and makes
them feel something, whether it’s energy, joy, or even introspection. I want my listeners to escape for a moment, lose themselves in the music, and experience a journey that stays with them long after the track ends
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
The most important lesson music has taught me is patience and persistence. Creating something meaningful takes time, dedication, and the willingness to keep learning and experimenting. Music has also shown me the power of connection—it can bring people together and express emotions that words sometimes can’t.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
A dream festival I’d love to perform at is definitely Tomorrowland. The energy, the production, the global community it brings together… it’s the pinnacle of electronic music. Playing there would be a milestone and a huge honor.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why? If I could collaborate with any artist, I would definitely choose Skrillex.
To me, he represents pure innovation: every time he releases something, he redefines the sound of the moment. He has a unique ability to take completely different elements — heavy basslines, unpredictable grooves, emotional melodies — and turn them into something instantly recognizable as his.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
Looking toward the future, my dream is to bring my music to a global stage. I want to keep growing as a producer, release tracks that fully represent who I am, collaborate with artists who inspire me, and perform my sets around the world.
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?
I hope listeners will discover my passion, my dedication, and the honesty behind every track I release.
I want them to feel that my music comes from real experiences and real emotion — and to follow how I grow and evolve along the way
