Formula Indie Sessions – Interview with Aistė Pilvelytė

What is your earliest memory connected to music?

One of my earliest memories is singing as a little girl at family gatherings. Music was always present in my life, and I remember feeling that it was the easiest way to express emotions that words couldn’t fully capture.

How did your passion for creating music begin?

My passion grew naturally over the years. Performing came first, but eventually I realized I wanted to tell my own stories through music. Creating songs became a way to share my experiences, emotions, and personal growth with others.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

My latest project is about allowing yourself to feel, heal, and move forward. The song “Leisk Sau” encourages people to stop being so hard on themselves and to embrace life’s changes with courage and kindness.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

I would describe it as emotional pop with powerful vocals and honest storytelling. I love combining strong melodies with meaningful lyrics that listeners can personally relate to.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

I’ve learned that authenticity always wins. Instead of trying to meet expectations, I focus on creating music that genuinely reflects who I am. People connect most deeply with honesty.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

Everything usually starts with a simple melody or piano. I work closely with producers and songwriters, using professional recording software in the studio, but the most important tool is always emotion and the story behind the song.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

I enjoy discovering independent artists who create music with honesty and passion. There are so many talented musicians today who prove that authenticity matters more than trends.

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

Every important moment in my life leaves a mark on my music. Love, disappointment, hope, and personal growth all become inspiration. I believe listeners recognize when an artist sings from real experience.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

I hope my music gives people hope, strength, and comfort. If someone feels understood or finds the courage to keep going after listening to one of my songs, then I’ve achieved something meaningful.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

Music has taught me patience and resilience. Success doesn’t happen overnight, but if you stay true to yourself and keep creating, every experience becomes valuable.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

Every artist dreams of performing on the biggest stages, but for me, what truly matters is the connection with the audience. Whether it’s an intimate concert or a large international festival, the emotional connection is what makes every performance unforgettable.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

I would love to collaborate with Adele. She has an incredible ability to tell stories through her voice and emotion, and I deeply admire her authenticity as an artist.
