Spitting Loops was founded in 2023 in Olten, Switzerland and emerged from the local hardcore and metal scene. The band blends heavy guitar riffs with driving electronic beats, creating a sound that naturally unites raw power and atmosphere.
At the heart of their work lies the energy of the live experience. Spitting Loops moves between genres, experimenting with dynamics and intensity to forge a distinctive connection between heavy guitars and electronic music – without following well-trodden paths.

What is your earliest memory connected to music?

Some of our earliest memories are connected to local DIY hardcore shows, small rehearsal rooms, and discovering music together with friends. Music was always more than entertainment for us — it was a way to connect, express ourselves, and build something real together.

How did your passion for creating music begin?

Our passion grew naturally through friendship and the local hardcore scene. We started making music together more than 25 years ago, driven by pure energy and curiosity. From the beginning, it was never about trends or success — it was about creating something honest and meaningful together.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

Our current project reflects our evolution as musicians and friends. After many years rooted in the conservative hardcore scene, we felt the need to break free from boundaries and expectations. We wanted to explore new sounds, emotions, and creative directions without limiting ourselves to one genre or scene.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

We would describe our sound as emotional, intense, atmospheric, and unrestricted. There are influences from doom metal, electronic music, cinematic textures, and experimental elements, but the most important thing is the feeling behind it.But its still listenable.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

We learned that the creative process becomes more powerful when you stop trying to fit into expectations. Once we allowed ourselves to create freely without worrying about genres or outside opinions, the music became much more honest and exciting.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

We use a combination of digital production tools, synths, guitars, vocals, and sound design. But honestly, the most important tool is still the connection and trust we have built together over 25 years of creating music.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

We listen to a lot of different genres and artists, and that variety definitely influences the way we create music. Lately we’ve been listening to bands like FJØRT, Monolord, and Ragana, but also electronic artists like REZZ and Stephan Bodzin. We love artists who create atmosphere and emotion while still pushing boundaries in their own way.

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

Our music is deeply connected to friendship, growing older together, personal struggles, and all the experiences we shared through the DIY and hardcore scene. Those experiences shaped not only our sound, but also the values behind everything we create. After more than 25 years of making music together, the connection between us became just as important as the music itself.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

We hope listeners can fully dive into the music and create their own personal journey within it. We don’t want to dictate emotions or meanings too much — we prefer when people discover something unique for themselves inside the atmosphere, energy, and emotion of the songs.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

Music taught us that authenticity lasts longer than trends. It also taught us that friendship and shared passion are sometimes more important than recognition or success.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

Since we started making music together, one dream has always been to play at the Paléo Festival Nyon. Growing up in Switzerland, it always felt like one of those iconic festivals where so many different styles and people come together. At the same time, we still love intimate DIY spaces because the connection with people matters more to us than the size of the stage.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

Probably Rage Against the Machine. We always loved the aggression, tension, and raw energy in their music. There’s something powerful about how they combine intensity, atmosphere, and emotion while still sounding completely honest and uncompromising. That spirit definitely connects with the way we approach music ourselves.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

Right now we’re focused on finishing and releasing our upcoming EP, which feels like an important next step for us creatively. More than anything, we want to keep evolving without boundaries, continue enjoying the process together, and bring the music to more people while staying true to the DIY spirit we came from.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

We hope listeners discover honesty and emotion in what we do. We want people to dive into the music and create their own journey inside it. There doesn’t always need to be one clear meaning — sometimes the best moments happen when listeners connect to the music in their own personal way.
