Sam Lapides

Wat is your earliest memory connected to music?

Couldn’t quite figure out what a Georgie girl really was.

How did your passion for creating music begin?

I had to go to school but I didn’t always have to listen.  I could write songs in my head all day and try and remember them when I got out of school.  One of my best was written in 3rd grade learning multiplication tables.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

I have a new band featuring a father on guitar and his son on drums.  I’ve known the father for a number of years and when he said he wanted to have his son on drums I was hesitant until I heard him play,  The kid is a natural!

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

Classic rock with a down home country twist.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

Working with others is the way to go.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

It can open up hearts and doors

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

Any theater with a 1000 plus capacity with great acoustics.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

Paul Kantner and Grace Slick around 1970 when they voices blended so perfectly.  Blows Against the Empire was the first album that really shook me to my core.
