Formula Indie Sessions : Interview with Ced Rochat

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
My mother listened to Elvis at full volume when I was a kid.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
During my first experiences as a bassist in my first bands
What’s the story behind your current music project?
For several years I wanted to do an acoustic project and I never had the opportunity, so I took advantage of a break from Dead Dog Cafe, my other project where I also compose, to make it happen.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
My style is quite melancholic.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
Good question. I would say perhaps it’s the new technologies. Before, when we were in the composition process, we spent a lot of time finding singers or other musicians. Now, with new technologies, we have everything immediately, which allows us to have a direct preview of our creations.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
For recording, I use Logic Pro; otherwise, I play all the guitar and bass parts myself, and I program AI for the rest.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
Ce moment j écoute Nina Nesbit j aime beaucoup son style
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
My state of mind greatly influences my music and lyrics; I’m a person who’s outraged by certain things that are happening right now.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
Je dirais qu il y as toujours pire ailleurs et qu il faut profiter du temp présent
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Nothing is guaranteed; overnight you can find yourself back where you started in your career.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
I don’t have a preference as long as the person in front of me enjoys listening to what I do, that’s the most important thing.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
There are too many, it’s difficult to choose; I would like to collaborate with everyone.
