Hvor Er Skygge is a Danish dreamrock-artist, who has just released his 2nd album ‘Drøm  Med Øjnene Åbnet’. Behind the alias is songwriter and producer Jeppe Dengsø.

What is your earliest memory connected to music?

A song on a TV-show called the ‘Bear in the Blue House’, which my artist name Hvor Er  Skygge is inspired by. In every episode the bear sings this melody to the shadow on his  wall to call her out from the darkness. He sings “hvor, hvor, hvor er skygge?”, which  means “where, where, where is shadow?”

How did your passion for creating music begin?

One day as a kid I found an old acoustic guitar in my dad’s house and started writing my  own songs.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

I’ve just released my 2nd album as Hvor Er Skygge – ‘Drøm Med Øjnene Åbnet’. Most of  its songs have hundreds of layers and being alone with my doubt and perfectionism  almost knocked me out. But somehow I pulled through and now I’m so grateful that it’s  out. It unfolds as a journey by rocketship escaping Earth with the songs having common  references to raindancers, paperbirds, lavenders and a boy named Jonatan.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music  before?

A collage of shoegaze, jazz, electronics and pop.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music? That everything is cool. Context is what matters and literally all kinds of art and

expressions are beautiful as long as they’re not hurting anyone.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process? These days I try to stay away from software instruments and endless digital possibilities.

I’m learning how to commit to a sound coming from physical equipment.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

Lucca Francisco is an amazing guitarist/singer who has recently released a wonderful  album entitled ‘Sobrancelha Sem Kor’.

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision? Having a nervous breakdown due to the pressure and ambition of my new album has

definitely caused me to simplify my next album. I’m thankful for the breakdown, though,  cause now that I’m out of it, it’s pushed me into brand new territory.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work? ‘Drøm Med Øjnene Åbnet’, to me, bears a theme of wanting to live curiously with an

intact imagination.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

That sometimes something can’t be or doesn’t need to be explained.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

Any venue with an audience that’s there to dedicate themselves to the music.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why? I’d love to have met David Lynch and speak to him about the importance of not knowing

or explaining.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical  journey?

We’re going to play shows in Denmark and present the album to the world, promote it  online. Hopefully see it take on a life of its own.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

Some people have said that this album rocks on the first listen, but that it holds many  secrets too, the deeper into it you dive.
