Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Henry Pradillo

perfil

Introduction of the project

What is your earliest memory connected to music?

The first song I learned was when I was 4 years old and it was a children’s song “La boda de los palomos” by Francisco Gabilondo Soler CRI-CRI, my mother used to sing this melody to me before going to sleep

How did your passion for creating music begin?

In the eighties, when hi-energy emerged, I wanted to be part of that music and created mixes combining cassette music and music recorded on the radio. They weren’t high quality, but for me they were fun and I liked to share them at family and friends gatherings.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

I started in 2006 with a very basic and used Numark DJ controller, recording with Audacity, experimenting with sounds, but the quality still didn’t convince me to create publicly, until I learned new editing tools like Virtual DJ in August 2021 and in 2024 with the support of AI tools I solved the vocal and arrangement part and it seemed to me that it was the time to publish my music so I started creating to publish, it was very exciting for me.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

It’s electronic dance music, deep house, but not in a traditional way. I try to take care of the message. For example: Last Dance in Neon is an EP with a message about taking care of our home (planet Earth) and the stories of different couples who live through a global disaster, without neglecting the danceable and enjoyable rhythm.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

The opportunity to express feelings, awareness, musical experiences, melodies to enjoy, I wouldn’t trade what I’m currently experiencing for anything.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

Hercules Impulse 500, iTunes, Virtual DJ, Suno (Voices and Mastering), Capcut, Canva, among others

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

Logic 1000

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

In the 1980s, I watched the news about the Cold War and the very real risk of a third world war. I was between 13 and 15 years old, and with my limited understanding, I even thought it was possible to build a nuclear shelter to be safe (something I, of course, never managed to do).

Over time, I came to understand that music is a powerful form of expression: a space where those fears, questions, and personal experiences can be channeled. I believe that music can help raise social awareness while remaining an artistic expression, sharing stories, experiences, and emotions through lyrics and sounds that connect with others.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

Enjoy alternative music with a danceable rhythm, also for studying, reading, working and sharing

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

What I’ve learned is that it’s never too late to create and share music; limitations of age, money, and tools cannot stop the creative feeling.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

It would be incredible to participate in a festival at the foot of the Teotihuacan pyramids on the night of the spring solstice, March 21st.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

Divine, because the energy of her songs was so powerful, it would be a privilege and a challenge to integrate her natural high-energy sound with dance music and current technology; I think it would be extraordinary. When I released my first EP, I didn’t hesitate to dedicate a track to her.

Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links)

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

Mixing Deep house and dance music with harpsichord notes motivated me to create Midnight Reborn and the Deep house version of Last Dance in Neon. I offer this material, which is already available on digital platforms, for your consideration. I hope you enjoy it.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

There will be surprises with a musical genre that I greatly appreciate, and I will soon be releasing Dance and Deep House singles.
