Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Greco

What is your earliest memory connected to music?

My mom and her friends were always dancing to Michael Jackson. They are all professional choreographers, they were always inspired by Michael and his moves. Dancing has always been a part of our lifestyle and Michael’s dancing was central in all that passion.

How did your passion for creating music begin?

I love to write. I always used to write a lot, big texts, and different themes. At a point further down the line, I started writing lyrics. Pretty early, I realised that writing was my strongest strength musically.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

“HARDEST FRA MIN BY” is a hiphop experimental mixtape that I’m working on. The title translates to “HARDEST FROM MY CITY”. Even though the title indicates hard music, the music explores everything from vulnerable singing to rapping. Genres are mainly trap, cloud rap and melodic rap and the goal is to give the norwegian hiphop industry a new sound that challenges the level of music that is right now. Features artists are included and I even made 2 interludes where the songs are fully featured – without my own vocals. This is a unique approach that I support because it can give these artists new listeners that listen to me, but that haven’t heard of them. At the same time as the music is an expression, and the songs that I choose from these artists match my project. I wouldn’t have done this is the artists and their capable sound didn’t match what I was looking for. The mixtape is produced by me and colleagues and is fully executive produced by me. The lead single “NOE MED DET” (“SOMETHING ABOUT IT”) was released in October 2025. As I’m writing this, I’m getting ready for the last hours before my next release “ATMOSFÆRE” (“ATMOSPHERE”) which is dropping tonight on the 2. January 2026. The feature on this song is a leading artist within the Norwegian underground scene “KOZILAN”. I can’t wait to show the world my art.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

Complicated, hard to understand and digest. I have met a lot of people that didn’t get my music and what I’m trying to show on their first listens. The same people are today my biggest supporters and even the ones that I might ask for advice on an early version of a new song. That’s because they have been through the phase of not liking my music and through the switch-process where everything turned around for their ears. My music is very unique, it challenges all rules established. At the same time, I love making everything from hiphop and its subgenres, to pop, reggaeton, ballads, R&B, deep house and dancehall. I also speak 4 languages fluently, which makes me obligated, to a degree, to search for different sounds all the time, even though they represent different genres and subgenres.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

I learned that you have to challenge yourself in the studio if you want to make an effect that challenges the boundaries of the industry.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

Logic Pro X and all Greek and balkan instruments and sounds.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

Che Ecru – It’s All Love

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

A lot. I write a lot about my personal experiences. It’s easy and real that way. I especially love to write about my experiences growing up in the ghetto of Athens, Greece. The reason for that is the streets and culture aesthetic that has come with it.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

Uniqueness in all forms.

 What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

Take your time, but not too long.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

I love live shows. I would play at many places because of my love for performing and interacting with music lovers. If I have to choose, it would be the festival Beach Please! from Romania, since I’m half Romanian, I also use the language sometimes in my songs and pretty often my experiences from Romania. The festival is the biggest hiphop festival in Europe currently. My show there would have an amazing atmosphere.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

Michael Jackson (greatest of all time).

Mani (favourite greek rapper and big inspiration in conveying the Athens atmosphere in my lyrics.

Young Thug, because he is a huge inspiration that has pushed me mentally to make unique music even if someone in the room doesn’t understand my approach on the spot.

To continue to be unique and be able to do my approach where I explore and release different genres of music.

The uniqueness in the lyrics, style and sounds. And the realness that I try to present through the lyrics that I work on everyday.
