What is your earliest memory connected to music?

It’s hard to pinpoint my earliest musical memory but I used to sing a lot in church back when I was living in Guatemala. The homophobia I experienced as a kid was terrible but my voice was the one thing that humanized me in the eyes of the preacher.

How did your passion for creating music begin?

Honestly, just boredom. I grew up in an area where there weren’t many children for me to play with so i sort of resorted to playing DAWs because I would see the older men at the church use it to fix the lead singers voice.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

I’ve been working on this record named Fetus. I’ve been wanting to scrap it and restart it because I think I mood boarded it too much to the point where it’s more of a product rather than an artistic expression. I feel as though i went in a pop direction but I’m also not a consumer of pop. I feel like songs like C#m1210, Anchor, And Flick My Wrist showcase more honesty, but it still feels too corny for my taste.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

I guess dark pop would be appropriate. I like to describe it as yandere music.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

Let yourself be cringe.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

Just a DAW, and a midi keyboard but the DAW to me is very important. I would say i don’t care so much about being professional when it comes to recording however i do prioritize music theory, I always look at production and recording through a punk lens where despite how aggressive a recording sounds the talent still shines through.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

To be honest i don’t keep up with pop culture so i just assume everyone is indie by default but I’m really enjoying the new Lux album by Rosalia, and the reissue of Shygirls Alias EP.

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

A lot… I wish i could give a cohesive answer to this question. I feel like half of my music is fantasy and the other half is hyper realistic. I suppose i enjoy scaring the audience a little bit within the fantasy.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

To free themselves of whatever prison they are in.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

Discipline, and the art of letting go.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

I have terrible stage fright. However, Coachella

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

Bjork, Rosalia, Lady Gaga but only if red ones invited, and Jeffree Star

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

I Kinda want to redo the Fetus album and just get rid of all the songs from the original project. I’d love it if a label steps in and just A&R’s the hell out of me aslong as I’m able to create an album that i full beleive in.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

Mama, I’m a hermit. However, i am a kind person but I like having a wall up.
