Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Oreaganomics

Locked out on Valentine’s Day by Oreaganomics out January 1st 2026.
What is your earliest memory connected to music?
Being very young at my maternal grandmas house. She was into Lawrence Welk and very safe music but let me listen to Elvis. I heard Devil in Disguise and it blew my six year old mind in regards to content and execution.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
Like most kids from the 90s, MTV. Pre-internet and early internet, that was the culturally relevant place to be.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
It’s a album about relationships, both in terms of smashing and how a individual handles the cost-of-living crisis going on in the US.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
We try to change every album. Locked out on Valentine’s Day was described as psychedelic soul music by someone during live streams. I like that but will add it’s raw versions of both those genres.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
I learned how to rip off Curtis Mayfield in terms of the way I sing.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
Bandlab and whatever we can find and play instrument wise. Sometimes we contract out.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
Well it’s revealing how little coverage Norman Saan gets. Like he shouldn’t be indie but he just hasn’t paid the right keeper of the gate I guess. Like for him to be as popular and good as he is and not get coverage is telling.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
Oh this album is all my gripes, and I even included gripes people have against me.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
I hope listeners consider most of it pretty and the rest engaging.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Vibe is cheat code. Vibe will get you laid, elected, and promoted.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
I got some places I would play for free locally in Lincoln Nebraska. Outside that, none but I’m open to bookings if we can agree to terms.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
Weird Al. I’ve idolized him for decades.
Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links)

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
Breaking even financially via this album. We do well in all other aspects of life.
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?
The value to write songs with chord changes, chorus, bridges and the such.
