Italiani Medi is an Italian alternative rock band with funky, indie, and electropop influences.
We make surreal, politically aware, and deliberately unhinged lyrics the kind that laugh at reality because crying would be too on the nose.

Our songs live somewhere between social commentary and collective therapy, turning everyday Italian chaos into danceable existential crises. Think catchy grooves, uncomfortable truths, and the subtle feeling that everything is fine… right before it clearly isn’t.

What is your earliest memory connected to music?

Probably a song playing on the radio while someone was arguing in the car. That’s when we realized music exists to drown out discomfort.

How did your passion for creating music begin?

When we realized complaining about Italy at the bar wasn’t enough anymore. Songs last longer than rants, and at least Spotify doesn’t interrupt you to talk about taxes.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

We’re guys in our 20s and 30s from the province of the province of the province, with salaries lower than our parents’ and no real prospects for the future. One day we decided to start playing music as a form of meditation, to avoid thinking about a world that’s collapsing. But the collapsing world ended up inside the songs.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

We’re funky, we’re independent, there’s some rock but alternative enough. We’re not the children of a Green Party senator, though.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

That nobody is coming to save you, not the government, not the industry, not your uncle who “knows people.” So you might as well be honest.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

A laptop held together by hope, a microphone, some synths, and the same resilience Italians use to survive bureaucracy.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

Anyone still making music instead of leaving the country. That alone deserves respect.

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

Living in Italy teaches you irony by force. You learn to laugh while things fall apart, and that’s basically our artistic vision.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

That it’s okay to feel tired, disappointed, and still weirdly attached to where you come from. Italy breaks your heart, but you keep dancing anyway.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

That talent helps, but surviving in Italy mostly requires patience, dark humor, and pretending this was all part of the plan.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

Rock in Roma? AO

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

Bobo Craxi playing Girl from Ipanema, because it perfectly represents what this country has become.

Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links)

On Spotify, Instagram, and wherever people doomscroll to escape the news. Look for Italiani Medi we’re cheaper than therapy.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

To keep making music without having to justify it to relatives asking when we’ll get a “real job.” And maybe still live in Italy without regretting it every morning.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

That behind the jokes there’s love for this country, the kind of love where you complain constantly but never really leave.
