Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with V/Terpan

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
That would be my siblings fighting over a Duran Duran’s John Taylor poster. Wild Boys must be the first song I’ve ever heard in my life.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
I can’t really tell. It always felt organic. I guess as a teenager being impressed by all the pop/rock stars I used to watch on TV.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
I am focusing on a few mellow, down-tempo guitar based tracks at the moment. This could end up to an EP.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
Not too complicated. Pop, rock, electro with a pinch of goth/darkwave.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
That if I stick to a certain formula or even genre I’ll end up with nothing.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
My phone or a piece of paper is where almost everything I have done started. Singing or writing down the idea, transcribing it on guitar or piano and so on…I use Reaper as my DAW.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
I am really impressed by Victor Jones lately He has a raw energy that I find captivating.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
I believe that all my songs are exposing my inner self and my personal experiences to the world. And I think all my artistic influences can be found in there too.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
I just hope the listener can enjoy it anyhow they like. I cannot have expectations from anyone.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
I like saying that if there is some sort of divinity, music is the best way to reach it.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
Hypotheticaly speaking of course, The Shepherd’s Bush Empire and the Royal Albert Hall in London would be a dream for me.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
If I could choose anyone, that would be Billie Eilish or Loreena McKennitt. I don’t know why. I think our vibes would be matching.
Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links)
At https://linktr.ee/vterpan you can find all my links.
Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
I don’t plan anything. I hope I can find the will to finish all my ongoing projects and make an album.
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?
That deep inside I am more rock n’ roll than I look 😊
