Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Arild Håkon Iversen

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
Hard to remember. Probably my father put on J. Cash, Jim Reeves or Elvis Presley.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
Well, i did not learn music theory or play any instrument at School. Bought my first acoustic guitar at age 22 or so. From that on it was like a hobby and therapy to try sing and play the guitar.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
I worked in health care, and i tried some lyrics in my own language, Norwegian. About our beautiful home town, wish the best for people. And, unfortunately, life is unfair.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
Acoustic guitar, kind of singer and songwriter. Folk/pop genre. Touch of indie and country, i heard people say.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
Well, that it is too different things, to record with your phone, and to be in a real music studio. Quality of the sound, that matters.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
Acoustic guitar, and life itself.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
There are so many. I can not choose.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
Yes life, the ups and downs. Love..Live failure. God helps us And love of family and friends, from back in the days. I am grateful.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
That the lyrics, and the voice gives a message. Like life itself.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
We all can do it, just different. And together, it is the path
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
Well, i tried play rhythm guitar and sing at work. Maybe i will try on stage, just to have done it.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
A talk with Mr Springsteen, about life. And i might do his song My father’s house, good enough. If not he could help. I am not starstruck. I believe we are equal, as human beings.

To make the song Part of you and Kanskje. (Norwegian song) And a cover version of Springstee’s song My father’s house.

Just some message. Among all other music and art. That it is different.
