Formula Indie Sessions Interview with Fabrice

Introduction of the project
What is your earliest memory connected to music?
I remember my father who had huge stereo. He was listening everykind of music from Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Eric Clapton, Barclay James Harvest, Tabou Combo … It was in Guadeloupe ,id 70’s.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
My father had an old guitar and i use to try playin. Then i started record with a double tape what was in my mind.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
My life is in my music. My feelings about the world. My wife has won the battle agaisnt cancer and i guess my lats projects was influenced by the hard time we’ve been through.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
You can hear a lot of influences in music but the round Reggae bass line and the guitar wash are always present. Some kind of Red Gold and Green music. I am tryin to keep an innovative approach. I am not tryin to stick at all to an old formular. I feel closer from Lika Ike, Protoje, Samory in the way i think about reggae.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
MAO of course. I have played live music in Bands for years. I use to like that but as i got older, i prefer now the home studio and the creation. So i have to do everything. It’s not perfect but it’s me.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
My Fender Jazzbass and Wolfart preamp and my customised Epiphone Hollowbody. Then its my Rupert Neve preamp and my AKG 414XLII. You would not believe it but i still use Acid10 to produce my sound. Then i switch to Logic Pro.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
The last Holie Cook album “Shy girl”. It’s a masterpiece.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
As i said my life is in ly music. I don’t confess myself to friends, i write songs
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
Well i zould love to spread a message of tolerance but not explicitly. There’s a fiction in the space between…
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Work, learn something every day and you’ll be grace full.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
Well i don’t know. Maybe something in the nature, with people layin in hamoc, BBQ and a crowd from dfferent nationalities.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
I would love to collaborate with Stephen Marley. He is a brilliant producer.
