Formula Indie Sessions : Interview with Ordain Lyrical

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
My earliest memory connected to music is hearing emotional gospel songs playing early in the mornings at home. Even before I understood the lyrics, I could feel something deep inside me — like the music was speaking to my spirit. That was the first time I realized how powerful music can be.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
My passion for creating music began during moments when I felt alone or misunderstood. Writing became the place where I could release emotions I couldn’t say out loud. The more I wrote, the more I realized that my experiences could connect with others who feel the same. That’s when I knew music was my purpose.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
The project was born from a moment of reflection. I realized that even when I drifted toward worldly things and chased the wrong signs of success, God’s grace never left me. ‘God and Abraham’ is my testimony — a reminder that God’s promises still stand, just like they did for Abraham. It’s a song of gratitude, faith, and recognition of how far God has brought me.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
My sound is emotional gospel mixed with heartfelt melodies, and sometimes catchy club vibes. It’s raw, spiritual, and honest — music made for the soul and the mind. I focus on emotion, vulnerability, and messages that speak directly to the heart.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
I learned that authenticity is more powerful than perfection. When I stopped chasing trends and focused on expressing genuine emotion, my music became more impactful.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
I rely on my Euphoria UMC sound card, Taskar microphone, Alctron headphones, and a beat that connects to my spirit. Once the beat resonates emotionally, the lyrics flow naturally.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
I’m inspired by artists like Dax, Sam Opoku, Post Malone, and Alexander Stewart—artists who aren’t afraid to be vulnerable.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
My personal experiences with sadness, heartbreak, trauma, and moments of feeling unworthy shape every song I create. I write from real emotions so listeners who feel the same can find understanding and comfort.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
I want listeners to feel hope—especially those silently struggling. I hope they understand that their pain is valid, God sees them, and His promises still stand.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Music has taught me patience. Even inspiring one listener is a blessing, because one connection can grow into many.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
My dream is to perform at a place like Madison Square Garden someday. Not because of the fame, but because it would represent how far God has brought me — from my struggles to a global platform.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
I would love to collaborate with Dax because listening to him has shaped my music journey — I call him my music tutor and role model. Also Post Malone for his emotional depth, and Maverick City Music for their spiritual atmosphere. They all create with honesty and soul.
