Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Adamsky

What is your earliest memory connected to music?

That’s a question I really need to think about. 🤔
It feels like I’ve always lived with music around me.
My father used to sing me lullabies — actually, he always sang to me and my older sister.
So, long story short, my very first musical memory is his voice

How did your passion for creating music begin?

It started back in high school.
I never thought I could be a musician — and honestly, I never even wanted to.
But one day, on the very last day before summer vacation, a good friend of mine brought his gear to school: a cheap Chinese Stratocaster and a tiny budget amp.
And when he played the very first chord, something clicked. It changed my life immediately.
I remember thinking: ‘OMG… I thought only TV stars could play instruments. But here’s my buddy playing hard-rock riffs. Maybe I can do that too. And… well, here I am. 🤭

What’s the story behind your current music project?

I started my first real band back in university.
And naturally, when university ended — the band ended too.
Suddenly I found myself at a crossroads:
Do I really want to keep going with music?
Do I want to study it properly, build my own studio…
or should I just let it remain an unrealized childhood dream?

That’s how the Adamsky project was born — music I create entirely on my own, without looking back at anyone.
Every instrument, every word, every note — it’s all me.
Maybe it takes longer this way, and maybe it’s not always ‘better’ in a technical sense,
but each song reflects exactly what I want to say.
And every track becomes a point of growth.

So yes — I’m happy with the choice I made

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

My music is a carnival.
You never know what you’ll find here —
but it’s always going to be unusual, colorful, and full of spark.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

Definitely playing drums.
Modern music is all about the groove first — everything else comes after: the complex chord changes, the melodies, all of it.
If your song doesn’t groove at the drum level, it won’t groove anywhere else

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

The essentials for me are: a piano, a guitar, a good microphone, a high-quality audio interface, and great drum and bass samples.
You can live without all that — these days a phone and your voice are enough to make something interesting —
but for me, those things are fundamental.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

Oh gods, definitely the band Lawrence.
It’s this perfect mix of soul, funk, hip-hop, and an incredible kind of showmanship that borders on musical theatre.
I stumbled upon them by accident, but they’re my best musical discovery of the past ten years.

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

I think every musician would say that their emotions, the books they’ve read, the films they’ve watched — their whole life experience — all of it shapes what and how they write.
I’m no different. ☺️
Music is the transmission of emotion, and if you’re not receiving any, then there’s nothing to pass on.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

I always give the same answer — I want people to forget their problems for a moment, forget the constant wars, forget all the crap that’s going on in their lives.
I want to give them a chance to let go of the tension, to dream a little, to feel a bit of sadness if they need to, and to recharge — so they can go back out there and make the world a better place.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

Never stop, even when your goal feels out of reach.
Keep growing, work smart, stay a good person —
and one day, it will all pay off.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

I’m a bit too old for concerts already 😁
But seriously — I haven’t really thought about it in a long time.
I’m just as happy playing for five friends as I am performing in a big hall.
In the end, the number of people or the size of the venue doesn’t change much — what matters is how honestly you play, and how many hearts you manage to touch with your performance.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

Wow, you actually made me think.
I haven’t asked myself this question in a long time either.
Let’s say Dirty Loops and Vulfpeck — amazing professionals with an incredible sense of music and style.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

A few million streams and a truck full of money 😁
But besides that — I just want to keep experimenting and creating something interesting in the era of AI.
This is my profession now, and I’m genuinely happy doing what I do.
I just want to do it more often, on a bigger scale, with better quality —
and with an even stronger response from people.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

I want them to live their lives together with me, like with a best friend.
I want my music to become their daily companion and help them the way the music I grew up with helped me.
And honestly… an honest smile is more than enough for me. 👋
