Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Marytan

marytan

What is your earliest memory connected to music?

My first memory of music is from around 2009. My dad’s girlfriend at the time used to play a lot of music by a famous Spanish singer, Melendi, in the car. I really enjoyed listening to him.

How did your passion for creating music begin?

I started by making dark humor parodies of famous songs, such as Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido by Karol G, or Yandel 150 by Feid, Yandel, after that I moved on to more serious songs like “Nos Quemamos” or “Quedate”

What’s the story behind your current music project?

Okay, now I’m really focused on making more music and releasing my first EP of completely serious music in early 2026.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

I would simply describe it as having two paths: the humor path, which would be the parodies, and the normal music path, which would be the rest. The second path I would describe as something more or less commercial and simple.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

What has changed the way I sound the most are the goals I have, so that I can focus in one way or another.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

TikTok and Flstudio are essentials.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

My indie artist is from Spain, DIB. And song, Shut up My Moms Calling

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

My life has influenced my music because it’s like a part of me, so whether you like it or not, it’s always going to influence it in some way.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

It depends on the person; the most basic thing I’m looking for is that they like it, the most “deep” thing might be that they realize that anyone with a computer or their mobile phone can easily do any mini musical project.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

You’ll never get the results you expect.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

For now, any festival would be fine, for the time being.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

Feid, i love his music and i could learn a lot from him

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

I hope to release the EP ahead of schedule and that it sounds good, especially to me.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

I don’t have a clear and specific style; rather, I don’t care about the style of music, it’s all worthwhile.
