Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Jahcoustix

Reggae musician from Munich, Germany.
What is your earliest memory connected to music?
My earliest memory connected to music is hearing my Dad play the Piano. And another very vivid memory is seeing Michael Jackson live on on his Thriller / Bad Tour on my 11th Birthday.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
I founded a Band with my older brother when i was 9 years old. I was living in NYC at that time and we wrote our first songs together. When i was 12 i moved to Africa and got into Reggae Music. I created a deep passion for this music and started playing guitar at the age of 15 and soon after started composing my own first songs. It was a great feeling and from then on i was completely into it.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
I met Paul Lupa when he asked me to sing on one of his Reggae Instrumentals. He was at a point where he was close to giving up on pursuing his musical career. We started working on the song „No Future like this“ and the collaboration gave him a new impetus so i guess it was not a coincidence that we met at that point in time.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
Acoustic Reggae / Roots Reggae / Worldmusic
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
Don’t listen to what or how other people think about your music. That doesn’t mean not to be open for critics or input, but eventually, do what your heart tells you.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process? Basically every creative process starts with a pen and paper and my acoustic guitar. Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
too many to pick one:-)
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
growing up in different countries and diverse cultures had a great impact on my world view and these experiences are reflected not only in my music but also my daily approach to life.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
Life is short, make the best of it, be thankful and never wait for things to happen – make them happen!
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Perfection is an illusion.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
I would love to perform at the Red Rocks amphitheater.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
James Brown and Bob Marley – it would surely be very inspiring to work with them and i´d have a ton of questions.
Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links, also add a Youtube link that will appear below the interview)

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
In times of AI overtake and more shift form reality to social media i want to keep bringing live music to the people, so we keep up the real human interaction.
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?
i hope they will discover my music and the artistic process i have made throughout 25 years of being on the road.
