Daniele D’Elia’s New Work “Quando sarò grande” (When I Grow Up) is the first single by Daniele D’Elia from his new album “Un po’ di te” (A Bit of You), the third effort from our modern-vintage singer-songwriter.
You know those houses furnished in an ’80s style but are brand new and seek the flavor of the past? Daniele plays exactly with these shades, loaded with a nostalgia that is not overly nostalgic, almost a “from the past” perspective.
Here, the song sometimes takes the path of Stadio (an Italian band) and at other times that of the more inspired Tommaso Paradiso (an Italian singer-songwriter). All in a fresh and modern key, a sound that accompanies the relaxed and carefree voice, narrating the initial sensations when we play as children to become legends. And slowly, it is discovered that simply playing is what truly matters, without soaring to unreachable skies but focusing on self-awareness, on the feeling of completeness.
The music video that accompanies the song is a concept of distorted images, a visual metaphor of the unconscious that filters reality, especially at an age when dreaming is so simple and equally legitimate.
Daniele begins his third musical adventure with the right touch, confirming his passion for beautiful music of the past, addressing non-trivial themes with taste and class. Good job!
