‘Lydia Briggs’, a deeply emotive and intense powerhouse singer, musician, and songwriter, announces her tenth single, “Fall Back to You” ready to play in Formula Indie the 8th February
This mysterious, moody, and calculating song is a bit anachronistic coming out of a young, petite, pop-oriented singer. Lydia Briggs, however, simply writes what life brings her. This time it brought a tender death march, wrapped up in a crooning guitar, and harmonies whispering like sirens and luring you back to danger. And the brilliant simplicity of her keys punctuates a compulsion to repeat the circumstances over and over again.
When the right musicians fall into place there becomes an almost clairvoyant sense of what needs to be done for a song – especially a song like Fall Back to You. “As a singer-songwriter, I never really focused on building a band. It has been my session band that has evolved with each recording,” explains Briggs. “Tuck Mindrum and Javier MK Davis were brought in as studio musicians when I first started working with Jim Wirt at Superior Sound. I’ve played with Sean Dougherty in previous bands and lucky for me that he’s working at Superior now and came along with the studio rental.”
“Tuck came in and knocked the drums out in the first or second take. He’s just so focused and is such a perfectionist. I’ll be dragging him on the road with me someday soon, I hope. Javier is extremely passionate about his work. He will wait out his muse until the perfect pad shows up. Sean tapped into a sweet and melancholy guitar riff that I’m literally in love with. And there’s nothing more inspiring than working with your twin – a talented musician and sound engineer on the rise.”
Working on the demo it was obvious that her sibling, Harboring, be involved in the recording. “It’s awe inspiring to witness Harboring’s ability to manipulate sound – at one point asking for a patch to be reversed and creating a clear path from verse to chorus,” says Briggs. “Music is all about communicating, but with a sibling it runs much deeper.”
“This group gets it – they get the feel behind my music. They lift me up and push me to do my best work.”
Briggs is a member of Kobalt Music Group’s select AWAL Core family. With this release, Lydia continues to build her audience and break personal milestones, achieving over 30.1K streams on Spotify and Apple Music and over 427K views on YouTube.
