Angelo Seretti and Lucia Houston Join Forces on the Classic “You Belong to Me”: Crooner Elegance Meets Soulful Blues for a Stunning Reimagining
The famous 1952 American pop ballad comes back to life in a refined, newly arranged version that seamlessly blends Seretti’s elegant style with Houston’s versatile talent, bridging Friulian roots and international appeal.
The performance of the famous American standard “You Belong to Me,” performed by singer and crooner Angelo Seretti alongside songwriter, composer, and performer Lucia Pupolin, known artistically as Houston, is now available on YouTube and all major digital platforms.
The Track: The Story of a Timeless Classic
First published in 1952 and written by Pee Wee King, Chilton Price, and Redd Stewart, “You Belong to Me” is one of the most famous romantic and melancholic ballads in the history of global pop music. The lyrics express a deep feeling and a promise of enduring affection between two people separated by distance, reminding a traveling partner—amidst the atmosphere of Algiers’ markets or the majesty of Egypt’s pyramids—that their emotional bond remains unchanged despite the miles.
Over the course of more than seventy years, the song has been performed by international music legends: from Jo Stafford’s historic recording (the first version to top the charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom) to Dean Martin’s iconic swing interpretation, The Duprees’ famous 1960s doo-wop rendition, and Bob Dylan’s 1994 acoustic arrangement for the soundtrack of the film Natural Born Killers.
The Artists: Two Remarkable Musical Journeys
This new rearranged version brings together two artists with rich international backgrounds and a deep cultural sensitivity.
Angelo Seretti: Trained from childhood in voice, solfège, and piano, Seretti built his stylistic path inspired by legendary international crooners such as Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. A polyglot capable of singing in six languages (Italian, English, French, Spanish, German, and Friulian), Seretti has performed across numerous European countries (including France, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Poland) and shared the stage with prominent Italian artists such as Bobby Solo, Mariella Nava, Amedeo Minghi, Gianni Nazzaro, Annalisa Minetti, and Povia. Key highlights of his career include performing Without You—entrusted to him by songwriter Claudio Natili—the duet Let It Be Me with George Aaron (praised by Gilbert Bécaud’s family), European radio hits like Bye Bye City and Fuga dal pianeta terra, and a recent Top 10 spot on the Euro Indie Music Chart with Zuccherè (co-written with Bobby Solo). In 2025, he released the Friulian-language song Ma ce biele ca è la vite, based on a poem by Pierina Gallina, which received global airplay (from the US to Japan and Latin America), followed by the single Jo Cjanti par Furlan.
Lucia Houston (Lucia Pupolin): Visual artist, songwriter, composer, producer, and multidisciplinary performer. Born in 1973 with Friulian roots and French-American and Australian family influences, Lucia boasts an eclectic background that started in dance and 1990s club performances before evolving into event direction, artistic management, and soul/blues vocals (studied under Master Gigi Todesca). Described by famed American singer Cheryl Porter as “one of us: a fair skin with a Black voice,” she gained extensive musical theater experience with the IL RAMO Academy company in Lodi, performing in major Italian venues such as Milan’s Teatro Arcimboldi (Legally Blonde) and Trieste’s Teatro Verdi (Priscilla). Creator and artistic director of the TV format “I Wanna Sing I Wanna Dance” (broadcast on Canale Italia and Sky), Lucia acts as a writer, instructor, showgirl, and record producer. Her recent releases include the tracks Damned Night and Never Say Goodbye Again, following last year’s dance single Kemical Love.
The Collaboration
The artistic union between Angelo Seretti and Lucia Houston on “You Belong to Me” crystallized during the production of the TV competition “I Wanna Sing I Wanna Dance,” created by Houston, where Seretti served as a guest performer and judge for the prime-time finale. On that occasion, the two artists debuted their captivating duet version of the American classic to the public.
