Formula Indie Sessions – Interview with JØRGÍ

What is your earliest memory connected to music?

What started it all for me was watching the Remember The Time video, by Michael Jackson. I have not seen so much Aura from a man before, and i didn’t even know what Aura was back then!

How did your passion for creating music begin?

As far as creating, I always knew i wanted to do that growing up. However, i only started writing songs in 9th grade when my first high school crush broke my heart, haha.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

My upcoming EP “Grow A Heart” is the first chapter in my career. All having to do with not having enough experience to deal with women as a young man. As these songs can reflect, I commit a lot to make everything out of these relationships i went through. Nonetheless, these girls were would reveal they were only there for convenience and having a shoulder when they needed it.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

Such good vibes! Such happiness that will flow through you. The songs are speaking of sad moments, but in a way that we all can connect and see we all went through it. These songs, from vocal melodies, to Upbeat Pop Rock will have you jamming out while singing your heart out!

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

From Michael Jackson himself. “Do not get in the way of the song” Songs needs to come to live on their own. Some artists think about their songs too much and go back and forth, as I have learned to take advantage when a song comes to my head, and i just draw it out the way it came!

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

I mostly compose with my acoustic guitar, getting the chords and vocal melodies. Then i record the instruments on Logic Pro X to make a demo.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

Surprisingly enough i do not listen to Indie artists much, haha. I hear one song here and there from Indie Artists.

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

I am always grateful for the bad experiences i have had to go through and arise from. Specially when it gives me a new song i can make.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

That it is ok to be heartbroken, you don’t have to pretend you are heartless. However, learn how to take it without staying sad or depressed. Every bad thing happens for a reason, and everyday is a new day to stay sad from yesterday. I am an extremely grateful person. When life takes a curve that hurts me, i follow the plan i have made for my own success, no matter the obstacles.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

You will hate a song before you love it. And this applies to life. Things will be bad , then they will be great! No good or bad moment will last forever, and they will always come through. So dont lose focus on your goal regardless what you are put through.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

I know i will perform in Madison Square Garden, Wembley Stadium, Tokyo Dome, Munich’s Olympiastadium. Am not concerned about those. My biggest desire is to perform in very obscure cities, mostly poor cities that have never experienced concerts before. For example, cities in Africa. Unlike other artists, i want my ticket prices to be so cheap that anyone can come see. Giving the ability for more people to share my live experience is worth more than selling higher priced tickets. Money comes and goes, but fans that you care for are there forever.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

Past, without a doubt Michael Jackson! His music is literally the definition of Inmmortality. Having a collab with MJ would be equal to making a song that will last til the end of time!

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

Grow A Heart was a closing chapter. These were my baby steps where i had little direction were to go. As i have grown wiser in writing music, I want to get to those unforgettable stadium chat chorus! Making better visual experiences, Taking dancing to a whole no level, learning from Michael Jackson.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

That it will only get better, there is no ceiling, there is no end goal, its conquer the world from here on1=
