Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with House of Lemons

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
We both connected with music super early. Me (Easnadh) through the constant jam sessions in my family, while Timon got in touch with music growing up in Namibia and being surrounded by the togetherness music brings with it.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
Creating has been a part of us all our lives. For me (Easnadh) it clicked in a songwriting course at 13, while Timon made the realisation while studying guitar, realising that he’s a creator, not a player.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
We wanted to create an artist project that is more geared towards the creator side of the music industry. Not getting stuck on a genre, but rather showcasing our interest and skill as songwriters and producers for all kinds of different pop flavours.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
It’s loud, energetic, hooky, bold, in your face, sometimes chilled and doing whatever we feel like as long as it is pure vibes.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
We realised that we can be free to create whatever we want and not be defined by a box.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
All of the real instruments we play, Logic, Rhymezone, TheSaurus, Slate Digital, SSL, Valhalla and countless more.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
Chinchilla, ASTON, VOILÀ
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
Like our name says, we’re a madhouse filled with fresh juicy happiness. We love to explore, either musically or on holidays and we love the adventure of blending and discovering new things. We love to be in the moment, which reflects strongly in our music.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
To be who you are and have no shame in telling others about it. Life is a crazy ride and everybody is different. This is what makes it cool. Be free, be yourself and go explore the world, don’t pay attention to what people might think about you, do you!
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
You can be or do anything you want. You can go after what it is that you want.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
We’re creators not really performers, maybe some makeshift stage within a lemon farm somewhere in the south of Spain where people come jam with us? Or if, why not Sziget?
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
Diplo for his passion for the abstract and weird, yet delivering it in the most groovy, vibey and hooky way for people to connect with.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
Further working on the first album and finding great people to collaborate and have a fun time with.
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?
That we are who we are, no fluff, no BS, just pure vibes and they should feel the same.
