Formula Indie Sessions : Interview with Plasmatique

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
-My very first memory of music is sitting on the floor in front of the TV, watching MTV. There I was caught by Michael Jackson’s video for Black or White.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
-Basically, I’ve been traveling the world since I was 18. When I was in Germany, I met an amazing person, friend and later my partner, music producer Thomas Helmich. His passion for music inspired me. At first, I followed his work in the studio with enthusiasm and gradually I started to produce music myself.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
-During the coronavirus epidemic, we decided to diversify our work by starting to produce melodic techno. “Plasmatique” was born.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
-My music is hypnotic, sophisticated, cinematic and precise melodic techno. The goal of my work is to move away from the stereotype of the everyday and enjoy the present moment.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
-Because my mentor was and is a long-time experienced professional, I didn’t have to face any major changes in my work process. And since I work in multiple genres, I approach each one individually. An indicator of my satisfaction is when I have a smile on my face and goosebumps at the resulting work.

-At this moment it is definitely Thomas Helmich – Bravado and 2N8G – Giddy Up
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

-When I first experienced the energy of electronic music in an audience, I was captivated. My dream was to become a DJ an give this energy to people so that they could, at least for moment, be transported to a place where well-being reigns, where people smile at each other and enjoy the moment.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
-Above all, I hope listeners feel less alone. I want them to find a piece of their own story in my melodies.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
-Music is a language that people all over the world understand, without exception.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
-Venues it would be EPIC in Prague, The Brooklyn Mirage in NYC, Amnesia Ibiza, from festivals Burning Man, Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival Miami
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
-From the past, definitely Michael Jackson, because he was a uniquely talented and dedicated musician, and from the present, Nifra, who also comes from Slovakia and made it to the world stage.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
-My next goal is to bring my music to as many people as possible, to support the community.

-So that they might understand that I want to introduce them to new musicians, something they’ve never heard before, and spark their interest in new, unknown talents.
