Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Simon

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
I have always been into music, playing piano since I can remember, but at the age of 11 I switched to the guitar, and picked up musical influences along the way: Ed Sheeran, John Mayer and Red Hot Chili Peppers, just to name a few.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
My plan was to be in a band as a guitarist from early on, but after I went to an Ed Sheeran concert in 2012 I decided that I wanted to go solo and start writing my own songs.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
Currently, I have comprised an EP which should get released later this year, of my most important songs to date. A few have already been released, but there are definitely more coming. I will let you in on a secret, my next song, is probably the favourite I have written to date and is about my now wife.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
A mix between Ed Sheeran, John Mayer and other indie artists.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music? Patience is key, just because you haven’t written a good song in a while, doesn’t mean
you will never write another good song again.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process? My guitar, any new song I make always starts with me playing around on the guitar,
trying new melodies.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
I’m loving Cameron Whitcomb at the moment, his new track “Kingdom of Fear” has been stuck in my head for the past week.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision? all my songs are written from my personal experiences, and I find it a cathartic way to
express how i am feeling in that moment. songwriting is great that way, it is the ultimate therapy.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work? I write songs for my own expression and enjoyment, but i do hope people who feeling
the same way i am can connect to the songs and find their own therapy through them.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Music has taught me that things are never as good or as bad as they may seem when you are in the moment.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
I would love to play at the Forum in Melbourne one day. As someone from that city, it has always been a dream for me to one day play there.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why? At the moment, it would be Noah Kahan, he is crushing it right now and i think he’s in
that songwriting sweet spot at the moment. In terms of past, I would have to say peak John Mayer. He’s probably my favourite artist of all time, so that would be unbelievable.
Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links) All my music can be found on all music streaming platforms, as well as simon.tselios IG.
Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
I want to start growing my fanbase, reaching a broader audience, and hopefully doing some songwriting sessions with some of the best going around at the moment.
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way? That i am resilient, a passionate songwriter, and willing to explore different genres.
