What is your earliest memory connected to music?

I think it goes back to when I was around 6 or 7 years old. I saw a Michael Jackson music video on TV for the first time, and I was completely mesmerized. Im pretty sure it was Smooth Criminal. Its still one of my favorite songs of his to this day.

How did your passion for creating music begin?

When I was in high school, I had a friend who played acoustic guitar and was in THE punk rock band at school. All the girls were into him. I was really quiet and introverted back then, and I remember thinking, One day, thats going to be me.” So I picked up the guitar and started teaching myself around 14 or 15.

Whats the story behind your current music project?

A D A M stands for A Dance After Midnight. The idea came to me during a time when I was going out a lot at night, spending time in bars and pubs after a really painful breakup. When the pandemic hit, I finally had the space to focus and started working seriously on the first demos of my album Ghost Story Part I.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

My music blends nostalgic guitar-driven influences like blink-182, U2, and The Cure with more modern, atmospheric synth pop production inspired by M83, Kavinsky, or CHVRCHES. It creates a kind of cinematic, emotional vibe, somewhere between haunting melodies and the atmosphere of Stranger Things’ TV show.

What is one thing youve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

Ive learned that you have to make music for yourself first. If the process feels right and the finished track gives you real emotion, then youve already succeeded. And if even one person reaches out to say your music made them feel something, thats the most meaningful bonus you can get.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

I do everything myself, writing, recording, mixing, and mastering from my home studio. So honestly, every piece of gear (DAW, synths, guitars and mics) I use is part of that process. Its like my own little therapeutic bubble of creativity.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

The Haunted Youth. They have this really dreamy, atmospheric indie rock sound. For me, theyve been the biggest musical discovery of the past decade.

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

The A D A M project really came out of a breakup that had a big impact on my life. Ive always been drawn to synthwave music because of the nostalgia it brings. So I wanted to tell that post-breakup story in two parts: Ghost Story Part I and Ghost Story Part II.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

The best feeling for me is when someone takes the time to send me a message on IG and say that a song connected with them. Its only happened a few times so far, but those moments are incredibly powerful.

Whats the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

Not to give up everything to chase it. Theres a big element of luck in this industry, whether we like it or not. I learned that the hard way.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

Lets dream big. Playing at Rock en Seine would be incredible.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

Definitely The Haunted Youth. I really connect with their sound so it would feel like a very natural collaboration.

Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links)

You can find all my music on every streaming platform. Im also on Instagram (@thisisadamusic) and TikTok (@adanceaftermidnight).

Looking toward the future, whats your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

Like any artist, my dream is to make a living from my music. Id also love to grow as a producer and help create songs for other artists.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

I hope theyll follow the story into the sequel of my debut album and understand that both projects are really about healing. About how time can ease even the deepest pain, and how something meaningful can come out of it.
