What is your earliest memory connected to music?

Beautiful question to start with, I must say. From birds singing in the place I used to live to warm classical music or a vast collection of rock vinyls, I have always been aware of my musical environment. I remember myself singing and memorizing entire musical movies when I was little.

How did your passion for creating music begin?

I began my career very young, at age 4 actually, in musical theater. I used to create my own songs on my grandmother’s piano and, eventually, on my own keyboard. At school, I used to write song lyrics instead of text with what I learnt in History class.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

I had my first metal band when I was 11 (yes, very young) with some friends at school. We used to play metal covers and a few originals. Then, I was involved in some other bands, especially progressive metal bands, but they never settled. One day, I decided I was going to do a “solo project” just “for fun”… didn’t expect that project would turn 15 years old this 2026 and would take me to tour the world, or sing in big festivals with huge metal bands.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

I describe it as Cinematic Aztec Metal. My team and I have created a very symphonic, but theatrical metal world, combined with Aztec and prehispanic instrumentation. Beyond the genre, I’m a music therapist, so I also combine my art with emotional healing purposes.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music? We don’t own what we create. Music IS, we are just the stream where it happens.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process? For us it’s our instruments. My DAW, a piano or keyboard, a notebook and a pen. A walk by the beach with my cellphone as a voice recorder. Fun fact: I am more creative when I’m isolated and the room is dark.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

I trust so much in this project and they are releasing new music soon too. A Mexican alternative -but modern- metal band inspired by Stephen King’s universe. Listen to the song “Desierto” by “Eluria”.

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision? Absolutely. There’s a piece of my heart and a written page of my story in every song I create.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work? All of them, especially the ones nobody wants to talk about. That’s what I try to share through music therapy: a place where you can feel free and safe. Particularly, this new album “Metztli” is created to help others go through their processes of loss and grief.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

If you believe in yourself, you are kind, and you are able to find your purpose in life, dreams will come true.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

I would love to play at Resurrection Fest in Spain. That would be lovely! I must confess we’ve played in huge festivals and in small stages too, and what I enjoy the most is the magic we share with our public, the human interaction, not the quantity of people.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why? I’ve already collaborated with artists I admire, such as Fabio Lione or Jonathan Thorpenberg. Definitely Russell Allen from Symphony X is a dream for me that I wish comes true. I was already able to meet him and the band in person. Life has been generous to me and for that, I’m grateful.

Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links) I have a patreon VIP community. Honestly, that is the best way you can currently support an independent artist. Also through bandcamp! Great site to support digital music and buy official merch. You are more than welcome to join my social networks. You can find everything at annafiorimx.com

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

I would love to take my Cinematic Aztec Metal to Europe. Hopefully more people will find something in my music and my book that can help them in their healing paths. “Metztli” will be released this May 21th, and the book (release date to be announced) also throughout this year.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way? That I am a really empathetic person and I wish good things for all of us.
