What is your earliest memory connected to music?
WHEN I was 11 years one in Music class when the teacher did a cymbal swell and I wanted to know where the sound came from
How did your passion for creating music begin?
As a drummer playing 60’s folk music in a group with my friends
What’s the story behind your current music project?
I started writing loft during Covid because I could no longer tour, and after some initial sucesss, I became bored of the genre, especially the melodic and harmonic development of pieces. The owner of the record label I was releasing with suggested ai listen to Nild Frahm and was blown away and started transcribing his music which led to my current situation
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
Introspective classical music
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
Use your ears not your eyes
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
Felted UprightPiano, Ableton Live (for mixing)

Maddie Ashman
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
I have been a professional musician my entire life so the belief in knowing that if I follow what I feel is “correct” it will work out for me.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
Fascination and relaxation
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Life satisfaction comes through listening and believing in yourself

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
Brian Eno, he just seems to be able to find the magic in whoever he works with

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
I have started performing my piano music live on a weekly basis and wish to expand it to a revolving cast of musicians performing in small ensembles
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?
That music for relaxation/study/sleep etc does not need to be harmonically and melodically generic
