Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with BLEEM

What is your earliest memory related to music?
I grew up with parents who listened to a lot of music, including Ben Harper, Lenny Kravitz and Vanessa Paradis, Matthieu Chedid,
How did your passion for music creation begin?
I always had a CD player in my room and lots of singles. I used to listen to Ms Jackson by Outkast on repeat. I had access to GarageBand at a fairly young age, and from then on I started having fun with it.
What is the story behind your current music project?
After recording an EP on a computer with easy-to-use audio software, we set ourselves the goal of going back to basics and doing everything authentically.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before? I would say nostalgia, like a memory that everyone feels.
What is the one thing you have learned that has completely changed the way you make music?
The need for authenticity. The most important thing I want to share is the emotion I put into each song.
What tools, instruments or software are essential to your creative process?
The dictaphone app on my phone. Every new demo or idea starts there, with my acoustic guitar and I also need my notebook
Which artist or independent song are you into at the moment?
I recommend Septemberistheonlytimeidontthinkofyou, Stovepipe , Saint Jude. Daniel Caesar’s latest album has not yet received the recognition it deserves.
How have your personal experiences influenced our music and artistic vision?
I write a lot about what I’m going through or about discussions concerning issues that affect those around me.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners will take away from your work? I want them to feel inspired and motivated to live their lives to the fullest.
What is the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Don’t try to write that famous song, just do something you like.
Where is your dream venue or festival to perform?
A Tiny Desk or MTV Unplugged.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why? Elliot Smith for his writing and his incredibly effective simplicity.
Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website, Spotify, IG, links)
