Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Two Point Oh

Introduction of the project
This project is the first substantial Two Point Ohbody of work — it’s built from real late nights, long drives between Boonton, New Jersey and Brooklyn, and all the mental detritus that moves with you when you’re trying to make something honest. It’s rooted in indie/alt energy but feels human and lived-in, born out of frustration, friendship, and wanting to build something that actually matters.
What is your earliest memory connected to music?
One of my earliest memories is just sitting in the car with music blasting and feeling it hit deeper than anything around me. It was less about the lyrics then and more about that physical reaction — heart speed up, goosebumps, unmistakable connection. That feeling stayed with me.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
It started as an outlet for everything I couldn’t put into words. After my old band ended, I was aimless for a while. Writing solo stuff was how I processed all that — and then I realized I wasn’t going to stop. That urgency turned into Two Point Oh.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
Henry and I have known each other since middle school — Boy Scouts, high school football, remedial math classes together — and played together for years in another band. After that ended, we finally came back together in 2023 to write without overthinking it. Driving back and forth between Bushwick and North Jersey, hauling gear up flights of stairs, trying ideas over and over — it grounded what we wanted Two Point Ohto be: big guitar energy but emotional depth. After shaping the songs and bringing in Paul and Matt Rose from the NJ DIY scene to round it out, we finally felt like we had something worth releasing.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
Think heavy alt rhythms blended with shoegaze and indie rock — raw but melodic, with space to breathe and moments that hit hard. It’s emotional music that wants to be felt loud, not just heard.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
That the best moments are the ones you almost don’t plan for. When a guitar part, a vocal line, or a lyric comes out in a first or second take — and you feel it — that’s the magic. Sitting on it too long kills that energy.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
It starts simple — guitar, bass, vocal takes, and recording ideas fast so nothing slips away. Henry and I learned how to produce a lot of this ourselves in the studio at Timber in Bayonne, NJ. We layered from there, but it always starts with raw ideas that feel alive.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
Right now I’m into stuff that feels raw and real — music that’s not afraid of texture or emotion. Bands like Superheaven, Gleemer, and DIIV have been on heavy rotation for me.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
This music is personal — dealing with anxiety, relationships that burn and fade, and trying to come out on the other side. It’s rock music that’s not afraid to be emotional, heavy, nostalgic, and honest all at once.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
If someone feels like they’re on the outside or wrestling with the same doubts and pressures we are, I hope they hear something they recognize in these songs. It’s meant to be a shared experience, not just noise.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Don’t overthink it — authenticity outlasts polish. The moments that feel real are the ones people connect to.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
A packed NYC room where people are actually locked into the music — and someday, festivals in Europe or South America. We want to take this band as far as it can go.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
Someone who’s not afraid to push boundaries and blur genres. I’m more into connection than name value — someone who creates from reality, not image.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
To grow without losing our essence — better songs, bigger stages, and staying connected to the people who listen the loudest.
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?
That we’re here for the long haul — not creating trends, just making music that means something. And that the messy parts of life can become something powerful when you let them.
