Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Myers Hollow

MYERS

What is your earliest memory connected to music?

I used to run around with a cape on, pretending to be Elvis.

How did your passion for creating music begin?

My big brother gave me his guitar when I was 10. I took lessons for about two years, then started recording on the family computer.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

I wanted to create the music I wanted without compromising.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

Versatile. Indie rock and shoegaze mixed with metalcore.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

KISS: Keep it simple, stupid.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process? My PC, Reaper, Focusrite interface, and guitar are the core essentials. Honestly though, every plugin I use helps make the process easier, so they’re vital too.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

Camille Cano, Mollie Rainwater, and Sophie Perez – artists I’ve also had the chance to work with.

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision? I’ve been in many projects, but being able to do everything on my own now is amazing.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work? I just want people to enjoy each song. Often, when I collaborate, the artist writes lyrics after I’ve created the track, and we really build off each other. I hope listeners can place themselves inside the music.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far? Music is meant to be fun, not a chore. It should be challenging – but in a way that keeps you learning and evolving.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at? Louder Than Life or Bourbon & Beyond – really anything Danny Wimmer puts on.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why? Layne Staley.

Where can listeners follow and support your music?

Everywhere. I’m emphasizing social media this year, but streaming my music and liking my TikToks really helps.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

To gain more listeners each month and collaborate with more artists.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way? That I’m just an ordinary guy who really loves creating music.
