Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Inzoule

Interview with Oscar Canon Guitarist in Inzoule
What is your earliest memory connected to music?
It was when i first heard We´re not gonna take it with Twisted sisters on tape i must have been about 5 years old we played that song the hole day until my nanny freaked out
How did your passion for creating music begin?
I started to play guitar quite late i think i was about 14 and i have always been inspired by creation of writing songs and how stories getting told
What’s the story behind your current music project?
Inzoule started in 1999 i think but from that era only Karl-Fredrik and Marcus are still in the band, Me and Martin joined sometime in 2010 or 2011. We did have a break for about 10 years where we did not play any music at all with each other, But then one day the all four of us made a decision that we should start to re-record some of the songs that were on an EP that we never released . So we started to listen to every song and gave them new life, we started to cut some part out , added other parts and so on, and it gave us the joy and inspiration to create music together again.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
It’s hard to describe what kind of music we play and what kind of bands that inspire us because we all have much different music styles that we listen to , But if i would try to describe the sound you can say it “Arena rock”. On this new record that we are recording now we have grown more as song writers and know more how we want it to sound,The songs on the record is a mix of old and new songs so it will be a little bit different from the record Vie that we released in 2012 .
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
With this new record we have been more creative in the studio and focus on adding small parts that make the songs sounds so much different and that is something we did not do so much on the Vie album, Im really looking forward to release these new songs it’s been a while since we released some new material for our fans
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
We have two studios and we do use Logic if im not mistaken. Karl-Fredrik who plays the drums records his part in his own studio on his Mapex drumset and all the rest we record in Martin’s studio. We switch between Vox AC30HW and Peavey JSX for the guitar parts. Markus uses Fender Telecaster or Dean Flying V , For Martin is Nebelung Riffmeister or Gibson acoustic his choose and I use for the most parts my Gibsons ES333,& Flying V or Fender Telecaster.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
Not really Indie but lately have I been listening a lot to Fleetwood Mac’s album Rumours , Its not a bad song on that album simply super brilliant.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
I do listen to very different kind of styles all from Classic, Country, Hard Rock and Black Metal so when we write songs i do get inspiration from many different ways and i can find inspiration or ideas to record and guitarpart differently and try not to get stuck in just a narrow corridor
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
To get Energy and inspiration in life through our music that we create
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Not to be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and just play with it. Some of the greatest songs have been created with a lot of creativity. There is no shortcut to the perfect sound you have to be creative,
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
I would love to play at a big outdoor arena in front of thousands of fans.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
I would choose three artists.
John Lennon . He could create so many different styles and since I´m a total Beatles fan ofcourse
Waylon Jennings , His outlaw era in the 70´s holds so many great songs and the way he wrote music.
Elvis Presley The King of Rock´n´Roll his 70´s era holds some of his best songs.
