Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Hello London

CrownsPromo6

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
riding in the car listening to whatever music my mom had playing in the car while she ran errands.

How did your passion for creating music begin?
It probably began when my brother Dave and I made our first attempt at writing songs together. I was 5.

What’s the story behind your current music project?
I hadn’t played a show in 10 years and i joined a cover band which sparked my creativity and I started this project while I had some time off during the covid era. I also wanted to learn how to record music. Six years later and I have released 3 EP’s and 3 full length albums.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music
before?
My sound is indie emo with a pop punk edge.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
People always told me to sing louder, so I’ve worked on that and it has helped my vocal range. I naturally have a low voice.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
Guitars, drums, my collection of microphones, and reaper DAW are essential for me at this point. Also a new notebook every once in a while.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
I’m really enjoying the song ‘Ralph’ by the Buffalo NY based group West Ferry

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
Listening to emo bands has really changed my view on music and inspired me to add an emotional layer to the music, which is a way of processing the emotions I feel in real life.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
I hope they have a good feeling, i think the ultimate compliment for a musician is if someone tells you your song gave them goosebumps or made them feel a certain way.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Try to be a good person and treat people with kindness.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
I would love to play Town Ballroom here in Buffalo NY. I have always loved that venue.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
I would love to get a chance to work with any of the guys from Mayday Parade. I am just a huge fan and they seem like cool people.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical
journey?
I’m working on a new album. My dream is to get a recorded sound that I am truly proud of and can stack up nect to the major label bands I listen to every day.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?
Honestly i just hope they appreciate my music and value me as a songwriter.
