WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST MEMORY CONNECTED TO MUSIC?
Singing in the back of the car with friends while my friend’s mom drove us on field trips. We’d sing along with whatever song came on the radio and have a blast.
HOW DID YOUR PASSION FOR CREATING MUSIC BEGIN?
Music has always elicited a strong reaction from deep within me, especially when it’s a frisson-inducing song so, creating music somewhat just blossomed from that love as well as my love of storytelling and singing.
WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND YOUR CURRENT MUSIC PROJECT?
Currently we just finished up our 4th album and will start releasing soon! It’s a concept album written as a sign of the times. As the current state of our world becomes more precarious, I imagined humanity’s graceless downfall culminating in a nuclear apocalypse with their only salvation being a selfish vampiress who awakes after an eon.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND TO SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER HEARD YOUR MUSIC BEFORE?
Creators of worlds and rebellious revolutionaries of sound breathing life into rock for the new generations.
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU’VE LEARNED THAT COMPLETELY CHANGED THE WAY YOU MAKE MUSIC?
As an artist, songwriter, and music producer I’m very in tune with my vision and what I wish to create so, I stay pretty true to that vision. That’s not to say I don’t learn technical aspects of music creation, but my creative process remains very much aligned to my artistic desire which I believe leaves a very indelible Mortimer Nyx stamp throughout our discography.

HOW HAVE YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCES INFLUENCED YOUR MUSIC AND ARTISTIC VISION?
Personal experiences influence my music and artistic vision as it does for every band/artist on Earth! However, it’s not a direct correlation for me as it is for some artists. The stories and music I write, because my music is more storytelling than personal confessions overall, are based loosely on feelings, life experiences, and the lens in which I see the world.
WHAT EMOTIONS OR MESSAGES DO YOU HOPE LISTENERS TAKE FROM YOUR WORK?
We hope we can transport listeners to a different space with our music and have them relate on some level, be entertained, and really immerse themselves in the experience of our music.
WHAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON MUSIC HAS TAUGHT YOU SO FAR?
Not music per se but peripherally I’ve cemented my conviction to stay true to my sound, who I am, and my art.
WHAT IS A DREAM VENUE OR FESTIVAL YOU WOULD LOVE TO PERFORM AT?
Coachella!
IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANY ARTISTS, PAST OR PRESENT, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
Oh… That’s a hard one. There are so many, but to name a few… Jethro Tull would be amazing, especially since I believe Ian Anderson writes music in a similar fashion as me in terms of storytelling. Jack White would be fun as well because he does killer bass lines. Metallica as well because that would be generally incredible, and I have a bet running with someone who said it wouldn’t happen, but I’m putting it out there that it will!
