Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Charles Elliott

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
My grandmother owned an adult care home, and I remember
singing to the elderly. They were my first audience.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
My mother was a choir director, my dad sang as well. My grandma
and her sisters sang at the Opry. So music was always around me
and I began creating at an early age.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
Currently working on an album, but the song ideas keep pouring in.
Since my mom passed away I written at least 60+ songs
How would you describe your sound to someone who has
never heard your music before?
I would say my music is a blend of country, blues, gospel, and pop
combined. However, I love remaining versatile.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed
the way you make music?
Have fun and enjoy what your doing, you can’t please everyone.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your
creative process?
I love pro tools, my vocals and guitar are essential. The
world of creativity is endless now days and there’s really
nothing you can’t do.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
Hozier, Lumineers, to many to name I’ve took a real liking to a
former indie group Red Clay strays.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music
and artistic vision?
Just be real, and try to put yourself in others shoes.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from
your work?
I really hope to inspire people, and know that anything is possible if
you work hard.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so
far?
Life is short, and your music can remain long after your gone. So,
make sure you leave a good message.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform
at?
I think every opportunity to perform is a dream, but a world tour
would be the dream
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who
would it be and why?
Oh this would be an endless list. Curt cobain, Buddy holly, Keith
urban, Chris Stapleton. There are things about each artist I could
learn from. There styles of writing to there perfections on stage.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next
chapter of your musical journey?
Continue to do what I love, as long as I can.

I hope listeners will see my passion for doing What I love. I hope they
will relate to every story in my songs. They would place themselves in
the Story.
