What is your earliest memory connected to music?

My earliest memory connected to music comes from my family. My grandfather was in a gospel singing group, and he and my father used to throw shows in our yard with live bands when I was younger. Music was always around me—gospel in church with my grandparents, R&B playing through my aunt, brother, and sister, and rap coming from my father. Growing up, music wasn’t just something I listened to; it was part of my everyday life.

How did your passion for creating music begin?

My friends were having trouble finding a place to record their songs, so I watched and learned how to record and mix music myself. Eventually, I purchased my own studio to help my friends, and in the process, I ended up becoming an artist as well. Now, I also produce music.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

I created two AI artists, writing and producing songs for both of them. My male artist is named Semaj, and my female artist is named Time. The project, called Froze Out Crew, showcases my production and songwriting abilities.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

The Birth of “AURA” Music

From the heart of the DMV, Moonie has been quietly shaping the sound of the region—his engineering and production stamped across countless records. But I didn’t stop there.I am the visionary behind “AURA” Music, a genre-defining wave built on immersive soundscapes and raw emotional energy that listeners don’t just hear—they feel.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

I’ve learned that there’s no single way to make music. I create by letting whatever comes from my mind, my fingers, and my soul lead the process.I’ve learned that simplicity sometimes beats all the extra stuff.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

Logic for production. Pro Tools for recording that’s all I need.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

Kevin McFadden-Christmas Holidays

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

My personal experiences have shaped my music by grounding it in authenticity. Growing up surrounded by different sounds—from gospel in church to R&B and rap at home—taught me how emotion, storytelling, and rhythm all connect. Watching my family and friends create music showed me that music is more than sound; it’s expression, community, and energy. Those experiences pushed me to create freely, without limits, and inspired my artistic vision to focus on feeling over formula, letting the music come straight from my mind, my fingers, and my soul.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

I hope listeners feel a genuine emotional connection when they hear my work. Whether it’s peace, inspiration, or motivation, I want the music to create a space where people can escape, reflect, and feel understood. More than anything, I want my message to be that it’s okay to be yourself, to feel deeply, and to move through life at your own rhythm.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

BE YOURSELF

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

Woodstock & On The Moon

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

If I could collaborate with any artist, past or present, it would be Devin the Dude. He’s my favorite artist because of how effortlessly he blends humor, honesty, and real-life storytelling into his music. His laid-back delivery and originality showed me that you don’t have to follow trends to make timeless music—you just have to be yourself. Working with him would feel less like a collaboration and more like creating a moment rooted in authenticity and soul.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

Looking ahead, my dream for the next chapter is to secure strong placements and continue building a catalog that opens doors to a publishing deal. I want my music to live across different platforms and projects, reaching new audiences while staying true to my sound. Every release and collaboration is about growth, longevity, and creating opportunities for future projects that push my artistry even further.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

I hope listeners discover the depth and authenticity behind my music. Beyond the beats and melodies, I want them to see my passion, my creativity, and my willingness to take risks. More than anything, I want them to feel my journey—my emotions, my experiences, and my growth—as I share my story through every song.
