What is your earliest memory connected to music?
When I was 3 years old. Mom put a recording device w mic in front of me and instead of speaking, I made up a song on the spot and it was recorded.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
It began with my 1st recording when I was 3!
What’s the story behind your current music project?
My current music project started 15 years ago when, when I quit my job at NASA Kennedy Space Center. Moved to California, then onto Hawaii where I developed an affinity for pacific island reggae music.
From there the rhythm of the islands set in and there’s no stopping the good vibes.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music
before?
Island influenced and reggae influenced music infused w ukulele and island kind of beats. Not traditional reggae but similar. I’m not Jamaican or Hawaiian but love the cultures, music and island ways of life. I live that lifestyle.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
Learn to appreciate all forms of music and find positives in everything you can.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
My main instruments are guitar and ukulele. I perform live w my looper and every performance is live recording on stage ; which makes things dynamic and interesting for me as well as the audience.
I record and perform internationally. Australia, USA, Indonesia. I utilize local talented producers whenever I can. Otherwise I record on my own. Protocols, logic, Studio One are the usual suspects for software.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
I’m all about my good friend Kiwini Vaitai from West Side Oahu (Hawaii) We did a single together and it did pretty well on Hawaii radio.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
Just live the life and the music and songs will flow
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
Be kind, Be strong, be forgiving, and be real!
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Love what you do. Do what you love.
Music transcends everything.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
I already performed there. And surfed it too!
