Formula Indie Sessions : Interview with Atee BRN

IMG - ATEE BRN

1. What is your earliest memory connected to music?
My earliest memory goes back to high school. The school I attended really emphasized music, so that was my first real encounter with it and where everything began.

2. How did your passion for creating music begin?
It started with writing poems as a way to express myself. Over time, those poems slowly grew into melodies, and that’s how my passion for creating music developed.

3. What’s the story behind your current music project?
My current project is called “IBICERI,” which translates to “money.” It’s an expression of the youth—our hunger, our hustle, and everything we go through trying to chase money and build our lives.

4. How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
I’d describe my sound as experimental expression. Most of the time when I start a project, I don’t have a fixed direction. I just follow what feels right, putting sounds together until they connect.

5. What is one thing you’ve learned that changed the way you make music?
I learned that less is more. That completely changed how I approach my sound.

6. What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
FL Studio is the most essential. It’s where everything happens—from the first idea to the final mix.

7. Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
Right now, I’m loving “EDEN” by NXCRE & The Villains.

8. How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
My personal experiences influence everything. I usually make music as a coping mechanism, and what I’ve been through has shaped both my taste and the way I express myself through sound.

9. What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
I want listeners to know that it’s okay to feel, and it’s okay to be yourself. Love yourself, express yourself, and allow your emotions to exist.

10. What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Music has taught me that I don’t know everything—and that’s okay. I still have a long way to go, but the journey is mine, not anyone else’s.

11. What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
NPR Tiny Desk. That would be a dream come true.

12. If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
I’d love to collaborate with Men I Trust. I think I’m their biggest fan. Their sound has everything I want my own sound to become. I can cry to their music, dance to it, sleep to it—anything.

13. Where can listeners follow and support your music?
All my socials are under ATEE BRN.

14. Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
I’m currently working on my album, and my dream is to fully bring the vision I have to life—to see if I can make it reality exactly the way I imagine it.

15. What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?
I hope they realize that everything I’m doing is proof that anyone can chase their dreams and make them real. Don’t be afraid—just start.
