Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Narnobeats

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
As far as I remember, I always wanted to play guitar, and I play air guitar with all I find : wood stick, a broom, and air guitar ! I was really good ! I saw that people around me listening to music forgot all their problems and seemed happier.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
I started creating music quite soon ! I found music theory and music lessons very boring. I wanted to experiment by myself and create something new, something nobody had heard before. Music theory helped me later to improvise and develop music culture.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
I’m working on a track with some deep house and afro house vibe. It’s an inspiring and melancholic melody that resonates with the soul. It will be released with “Café de Anatolia” this december, stay tuned !
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
I would say that I create some chill summer electronic music. Between the afro house and deep house, shadow and sun, the vibe is always groovy and danceable.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
When I started to make music with a computer, I just expanded my possibilities to infinity ! Initially tried to create with guitar and piano, but one day, I bought a MIDI controller with Ableton (Digital Audio Workstation) and I was able to record myself, add some other melodies and drums. I was a bandmaster alone in my bedroom !
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
I like to start my creative process with a real instrument : guitar or piano. I improvise and try to catch a vibe. When I have it, I add some elements to expand it : drums, other melodies… I like to play it live to transcribe the organic aspect !
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
Right now, I’m in love with “What I need ” from Naarly, Sickluv and Thabza De Soul. Go listen to my friend Thabza, his music is crazy and he’s a very talented man !
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
I think music is a part of your soul, it expresses who you are. I mainly create with a sense of what I’m experiencing right now. That’s why the environment and people around you are really important as an artist.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
I hope listeners can just escape for a moment and feel free.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
One thing really important, especially with music, is that there are no rules. You are totally free to create what you have in mind, and trust your intuition. Take things you like from all music genres to craft your own sound.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
I would love to play at Tomorrowland, Palm Tree Festival or at Zamna. It’s a long term objective but I would be grateful to play at any festival.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
There are so many, it’s difficult to pick just one ! I would say Kygo for his unique summer style with chopped vocals. I’ve been listening to his music for a long time and he’s partly why I started composing electronic music.
Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links)
